I believe that Dominic Brown is becoming a Hanley Ramirez type prospect. and for the phillies to move him would take a lot, He would be a replacement for either Werth or Raul. in late september of 2010 or 2011 if he keeps on this pace. They now to me and this is only a opinion of mine.We have the prospect to get a number one, or two, where last season the hardens, C.C. we couldn’t get because our system didn;t have the prospects that others had. I can’t imagine a team like padres not being interested in a Peavy trade if we gave them a donald, taylor, worley and lower a prospect. but with peavy he would have to approve it, but the diamondbacks might be a better trading partner if we can agree on prospects,

well its nice to see him playing well…rather see that than have him NOT play well…but its also much too early to judge whether or not he’ll be a good major league player…his best value may come in bringing a halladay or peavy here at the trade deadline…

Sorry for this off topic but I didn’t care to go to the other tread that is overwhelmed with so much trash talk about the results of the game.
I am just wondering if Charlie Manuel should now consider juggling the lineup order to find more consistency with the offense. I am looking specifically at leadoff spot. It is worrisome to see both Rollins (1 for 14) and Victorino (0 for 13) combined for 1 hit in 27 ABs in the 3 game series vs the Braves. Obviously, the team will win few games that way. Without the tablesetters, small ball is practically nonexistent. Relying on solo HRs is not going to help the team’s cause. Taking the pressure off Rollins and adding more speed at the bottom of the lineup by having him in the 6th spot in the batting order seems the best way to go. It’s a temporary solution until Rollins comes out of his slump.

This loss today in wasting a fine quality start by Myers on home field is quite galling. Again, I see a disturbing pattern with Lidge who was called to relieve in the 9th inning and keep the score to a one run margin and give the Phillies a chance to rally. The “ace” reliever was not sharp again and gave up a run on a hard extra base hit off the CF wall by Braves’ Kotchman who had 3 hits and 3 RBIs. Lidge ERA is now at 8.53.

The 3rd place Phillies are now in a all too familiar role of playing catchup.
I know it’s early but losing a series at home should be an ominous sign for both the manager and team to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are doing everything possible to regain their winning ways.

Geez..a few here going GA GA over a player in the Florida State League (class A). I can understand the excitement over a prospect with those inflated figures. However keep in mind his success (so far) are against class A pitchers of which most will never see the majors. I’ll withhold my judgment on Dominic Brown until he sees genuine quality pitching starting in double A (if and when he is ready for Reading Phillies).

He was also the second-most automatic out in the history of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Bohn was an absolute nightmare at the plate.

AA READING PHILLIES outfielders

Michael Taylor is doing well in Reading (.292 avg, 3 HR 15 RBI, 89-26 ab/h, 8 bb, 5 sb) and Quintin Berry (.242 avg, 1 HR 4 RBI, 91-22 ab/h, 13 bb, 9 sb) is starting to come on for the R-Phils as well.

Kevin Mahar (.302 avg, 2 HR 10 RBI, 83-25 ab/h, 8 bb, 3 sb) plays alot for R-Phils, too.

Mike Spidale (.365 avg, 1 HR 9 RBI, 52-19 ab/h) is usually a pinch hitter and late inning replacement.

Gus Milner (.209 avg, 1 HR 4 RBI, 43-9 ab/h) started off okay but now is just returning from the disabled list.

AAA LEHIGH VALLEY IRONPIGS outfielders

John Mayberry (.265 avg, 6 HR 21 RBI, 102-27 ab/h, 11 bb, 2 sb) is tied for third in I.L. for home runs. Fourteen of twenty-seven hits are for extra bases.

Veteran Rich Thompson (.276 avg, 1 HR 13 RBI, 116-32 ab/h, 11 bb, 9 sb) is very underrated player. Very fast and solid centerfielder. Had good spring in limited chances with Philadelphia Phillies this spring. Outstanding stolen base percentage both this year and last year (led the IL in stolen base percentage with 25 for 27 effort).

Jason Ellison (.253 avg, 1 HR 7 RBI, 79-20 ab/h, 7 bb, 4 sb) has improved as of late (10 for last 28) but over the long haul is dead weight. Batted .241 last season in hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League

Jeremy Slayden (.192 avg, 1 HR 3 RBI, 52-10 ab/h, 5 bb) has been struggling with nagging injuries since spring training

No. Brown is all of the above, there was a similar debate when he was drafted whether to make him a pitcher or not because his arm was so good. I believe you can still google some of his football highlights, the guy’s a great athlete. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him push for playing time next year in spring training. (along with Michael Taylor)

He’s the next Phillies superstar. With all the offensive tools, he’s got great plate discipline, a plus plus arm (threw 95 in high school) and is a top line athlete (had a scholarship to Miami to play wide receiver).
