Multiple reports say Brett Myers has left tonight’s game against the Marlins with right hip inflammation. He had given up five earned runs in the 5.2-inning outing.

If its serious do you think this will give more motivation for the phillies to acquire a #2 pitcher.

Of course it will. If Myers goes on the shelf for a month or so, it leaves the Phils with an ace and 4 question marks in their rotation. Hamels, Blanton as #2, Moyer as #3, Happ at #4, and Park at #5. That’s downright scary, not to mantion taking the longman out of the pen (unless Carpenter or Carrasco is promoted and Park stays put). If there is any validity to the Bedard rumours, it might become a reality sooner than later. I actually feel that this may become a reality regardless how long Myers is sidelined, if he’s out any time at all. starting pitching is a glaring hole and needs to be remedied if the Phils want any chance at a repeat.

IMO Park stays put in the pen. I think you put Myers on DL for 15 days, and bring up on of the kids, I don’t care if you bring carpenter back up, and let them spot start work the rotation and see if any of these kids can pitch now in the bigs. I did not see the game, in the outer banks no phillies on, but even if Brett pitched bad, he had two outings and one bad one, if the bats can save one out of six starts, we win when he is on the mound. So stop with all this he stinks, what were all you saying on friday night after his awesome outing cut him some slack

I want Halladay so bad on this team, I’d be so tempted to trade the farm for him………..seriously every prospect Carrasco, Drabek, Marson, Donald, Brown, Taylor, Knapp, Worley, Bastardo, Mayberry and if I missed someone…….. sure toss him in…… I’d be a terrible GM

I sware this whole thing was staged within the organization, and a shot towards Peavy saying ”Look, we need ya here kid”. You want to play in the National Leauge, and on a winning team? Well the train is coming to the station…Jump on that shit if you want to join the new Yankees of the National Leauge.
I have to admit in the begining I thought this Peavy talk wouldn’t jump an inch, but with all these rumors, and Brett getting injured…I think we would be the front runners in the race for him if only Amaro would jump in line, and I think he’s probably on the phone with his agent right now.

If anything Myers goes on the DL kendrick comes up to hold the spot until the phillies can facilitate a trade i put my money on Bedard or Washburn, Peavy doesn’t seem to wanna leave san diego unless its the Cubs and i don’t think hes very fond of the Bank. Oswalt will be highly overprice because the owner likes him alot. Bedard and Washburn can probably be easier to get with how bad seattle is if anything i go for Bedard at least he has some stuff maybe with the veterans on this team he can mature a little bettter. As far as the farm goes i like to keep Drabek, Savery and Marson, the rest its open season on all of them.

Hmm, who would everyone trade to get Peavy? (saying that he would accept the trade)

if you go after peavy keeping happ off the table is #1 priority and i do not think we can get peavy without losing happ!! but if we can wow what a rotation that would be for the next three to four years hamels, peavy, happ at the top

Ruben needs to get on the stick and make something happen now. We needed a starter before. We are desperate now. I’m hoping that this injury doesn’t jack the prices up, as in some GM out West saying, “So, Brett Myers got hurt, eh? Well, give us everything, and we’ll give you our best pitcher. And I mean EVERYTHING from your farm …”

There is from what I have read no chance on Peavy, it look like its a cook, or marguis, . They also are in on penny, but I haven’t seen what boston would take, and penny era is high. Charlie might be right the team is still living on last season, and maybe they think that if they want to turn it on they can at any time. I don’t think they have as much motivation at this time, Some way charlie has to kick them in the butt to can them going.

Peavy hasn’t been great this year and he’s complaining about ankle inflammation… I’m sure that the Padres would want a skeet load for him and I’m not sure if he’s worth it. Halladay ain’t going nowhere… one of the most dominant pitchers of this generation; the closest thing to a sure thing in the big leagues today. Bedard? Possibly but I don’t see how that would work. I don’t want to trade our better prospects to get Bedard for half of a season (that is, if he keeps his head on straight)… any sign and trade seems unlikely. Cook? Maybe… not sure what his deal looks like but the guy is pretty consistent (something that we need drastically). He started kind of slow this year but has been good.

Seriously I’m tired of Myers. This is just an excuse for a bad outing. We didnt hear anything on Friday’s outing against the Yankees. I always thought Myers was going to be the real deal I remembering watching his first outing against Prior in Wrigley n thought man we have our ace but ever since than he has been a disappointment. I think you let him walk after this season. If he needs to go on the DL than its time to call up Carlos i know the number arent there but maybe its time we’ve been waiting on him for 2 years now. If not then we make a deal for Bedard its not going to take much he is in his final year of his contract

I think there is this dude named Gidget or something that they are trying to trade along with Bedard … we’ll see if they look to move him, and what other team’s are interested

I don’t want any part of Bedard, and I cannot imagine for a second that a Peavy would come here to such a hitter’s park. Great if he would. Maybe we should let each of the kids have a start and see if any of them come up hot while we wait for a better trade to materialize? That would be easier to suggest if the Mets weren’t pulling wins out of their a$$es, though.

With no Happ what would it take to get Peavy?
Carrasco, Donald and what else?

We don’t need a Peavy… and Peavy would require too much. I much rather get Bedard, a very solid No.2… but that’s if Myers is injured. We have to wait before we pull the trigger on anything.

Manny, in the real world no one is ready to “pull the trigger on anything”. The Phillies are awaiting the results of Myers’ MRI today before determining what route to go to. If Myers must miss a start or go on the 15 day DL, the organization is looking within at someone like Kyle Kendrick who pitched 6 innings allowed 3 runs against Buffalo on Wednesday to lower his ERA to 4.25. He would probably be the choice unless they go to Chan Ho Park out of the bullpen.
This is my point of view in looking from what I believe is the organization’s perspective.
