Park Incapable Of Holding Mets

Chan Ho Park surrendered seven runs in 4.2 innings as the Phillies lost, 7-4, to the Mets.
Opinion: After four starts, we know what we’re getting with Park: A pitcher completely reliant on placement who, if just a smidge off, will give up numerous baserunners. Early he was walking batters. Later he was allowing line drive hits. It wasn’t pretty.
Meanwhile, JA Happ pitched two innings that, at times, looked close to dominant. Happ looks more seasoned, refined and ready than Park. It’s almost time to pull the plug on the great Chan Ho Park experiment; sorry Chan Ho, but you may have fooled the Phillies into giving you a role you don’t quite deserve.
The Phillies offense takes some blame, too, for not being able to hit a thoroughly hittable Mike Pelfrey. The usual suspects — Chase Utley, Raul Ibanez, Pedro Feliz — did their work, but as always, it was Jimmy Rollins that stood out to me. His 0-for-4 and penchant for early contact is getting terribly annoying. And let’s not forget the suddenly slumping Jayson Werth; his 0-for-3 put him at .250 for the season.

What gets me is that K-Rod through Ball after balll, yet they keep swinging. Leave the bat on your shoulder and let him walk everyone in.
Other then that dump Chan Blow Park, he is awful

I consider myself one of the fans that have defended Chan Ho since the start of Spring Training and wanted him to get his fair shake at the rotation but now it’s become clear that he is not doing the job everyone expected of him, although i do like his bat, I’m not going to lie ever since that opposite field HR in Miami last week I got excited when he batted last night thinking he could do some damage to help his cause. It seems to be time to give Happ a chance to see if he’s worth a starting rotation nod.

Yeah, I really feel like four starts is a fair shake. It’s time to move on to the Happ era.

Park earned the spot in spring training. His next start would be against the Mets at Shiti Field. If he makes the start, he should be on a very short leash and have Happ prepared to go 3 to 4 innings if needed.

I understand if he has had some shaky starts and I would have given him some leeway since its early. BUT, he acts like a little leaguer on the mound. Dubee or someone needs to tell him to stop acting like a baby if you don’t get the call.
On that note, I like Happ’s composure on the mound. I think he realizes that Park is on his way out. with our bullpen being a little banged up move Park to the bullpen and see if he can just pitch one inning. If he complains, release him and call up Koplove or Mawjeski. Spring training he was good but he is not cutting it against steady big league talent.
On a note of releasing, has Cairo hit a ball out of the infield? Everytime you see him pitch hit its like Charlie has given up on the inning thats about it. There has got to be someone that we can get and I think Amaro has been looking and hopefully will.

I was going to say give Park one more chance but his next start is against the Mets again. Time to give Happ the ball and maybe Park can be a good middle reliever.

Is it funny to anyone else that the last 2 years when Happ has been called up that he’s been called upon to start against the Mets?

You guys need to dump park, the mets who are incapable of tack on runs, actually did that last night. entertaining game, considering the score, had to keep drinking scotch last night b/c i felt the phillies comback was a hit a way
pelfrey pitched behind in the count the whole night but aside from Howards single in the first i do not recall the phillies getting a hard hit, Raul’s hit was a broken bat, and P. Feliz found a hole
it will be interesting next week when Utley’s homerun doesn’t even reach the warning track at Citi, i also did not realize how much Victorino and Utley crowd the plate, its good to see

Besides Park terrible outing, Pelfrey and K-fraud weren’t pitching that well… Pelfrey was shaky and looked very hittable, and you’re right on Tim when you bring up J-roll’s crappy game.
And K-rod was throwing all over the place. Apparently, Utley was the only one who noticed that and worked the walk. That last pitch of the game to Howard was bad and Howard couldn’t keep himself from swinging.Ugh.

Haap will be giving up 5-7 runs a start if he’s put into the rotation guaranteed

Dice, Happ didn’t do that last year when he started.
I say pull the plug on Park and put Happ in there.

Howard had been keeping himself from bad swings recently but he reverted. Pelfrey is a guy you can rock but they didnt. J-Hole was terrible – he needs to shut his mouth and focus. Chan Ho Park needs to be sent to the bullpen and hopefully be used iin the 6th or 7th inning. JA Happ better be in this spot in the rotation the next time around. Ruben Amaro called out Chan Ho Park, Brett Myers, and Joe Blanton yesterday. He said theyd look internally for pitching first (Happ, Carrasco) and then if that didnt improve the situtation by July 1 they would make trades.
I think Myers has been ok, but not dominant at all – too many runs but some quality starts. Blanton had two good starts but has been terrible in the other ones. He throws too many meatballs. But when hes on he can dominate a lineup.
They need a power bench bat too, it would just really help. And I heard theyre trying to trade for a late-inning reliever. Maybe they want insurance with Lidge and with Romero still being out.

i knew chan ho park was a mistake to begin with. i thought it was a joke when i heard that they signed him. he has a proven track record of terrible pitching. he’s never been a good pitcher, never will be either.

Last night, Park, in his body language and command of pitches seem to indicate he didn’t have a clue as to how to turn it around from impending disaster about to come. He obviously is now on a very short leash and after Manual & Dubee review his sorry performance, Park may have already lost his spot in the rotation. In giving credit where credit is due, Mets without Delgado and a hot Castillo (.370 BA) in the lineup were able to make the most of their hits in smallball (3 sac flies)and longball fashion. Their newly aquired setup and closer from the bullpen did their job. Today, the Phillies go with one of their more reliable and consistent starter in Moyer going against an unpredictable Perez. We also need Rollins to step up. He is such a factor in the lineup. When Rollins is hitless, the Phillies are 1-9.
Lets go Phillies!

I’d rather have Kendrick in the rotation over Park at this point. He was awful last night. Everything was just off. He didn’t even look comfortable or in command after the first runs we’re scored. I think 4 starts is more than generous at this point. Happ delivered in 3 starts last year, and has been great this year when brought in games this year. I didn’t think Park was the right choice, and wanted him to succeed – but with the other starters doing poorly, I don’t think we can afford at this point to take a chance on Park when Happ, in my opinion, would go out a give a quality start.
