With his fourth hit in Thursday’s game against the Reds, Jimmy Rollins collected his 1,500th career hit. And he also stole his career 300th base.
Rollins is 572nd on the all-time hit list, tied with Mike Bordick and Manny Sanguillen. He’s 54th on the active list — only Albert Pujols and Adrian Beltre are younger and above him on the list. He’s 11th on the franchise list, 11 in back of Tony Taylor for the top 10. It’s definitely possible when all is finished that Rollins is your all-time Phillies hit king: He’s 734 hits in back of Mike Schmidt for first — that’s about four years.
Meanwhile, Rollins is 153rd on the all-time steals list, tied with Frank Taveras. He’s ninth on the active list, one steal below Jose Reyes. Rollins is fourth on the franchise list, below Billy Hamilton, Ed Delahanty and Sherry Magee.
Congratulations to Rollins, who is already the franchise’s greatest shortstop; who knows what he could do with a few more seasons in pinstripes.

I wonder what he will do now that he is off the juice? Will he become an average singles hitter?

Chris, is that really the first thing you have to say about this? At least give him some credit, for cryin out loud. In this day and age, whenever someone goes into a slump or loses their edge, of course the subject of juicing rears its ugly head. Until a player tests positive, especially one of OUR guys, I’d like to think it’s all natural.
Tim, thanks for ackowledging Jimmy’s milestones, he’s certainly not everyone’s favorite player, but he deserves to be recognized for his achievements.
