Why him, he is the Joe Blanton of the national league. On the road his era is 5.78 last season 211 inning 236 hits, sound familiar. Does anyone want to tell me why, like the people who said blanton is a inning eater. Yeah a inning eater for a bad team. not a world series contender. why is everyone excuse not everyone, but a lot of people so lock into mediocre pitching, the phillies will have the money, Am I wrong but next year a lot comes off. all the bad contracts, and for sure myers isn't getting 12 million from them, ditto 5 for blanton, no eaton and so on, and they have some young option for next year who will help them with salary, happ is not getting a lot, and if its carrasco kendrick or worley drabek whoever young stud will get mininum so they will save there, oh forgot park he goes too. someone posted I like his ground ball ratio , that's great in turned into 236 hits in 211 inning with a near 5 runs a game given up. someone said savery and kenrick .As much as I hate kendrick and savery they are younger and still might help more than this human hit machine.

I looked up Cook . Mediocre to just a little above average. Blanton, Lohse, Moyer (when they got him). Lots of 3.5 starters. By illustration, if Myers was on another squad, the Phils would be interested in him because he's....just ok. But remember, there are a lot of BAD pitchers in baseball. The Dipsy

And, I don’t think Garland is that great at all but he’s just the type of guy the Phils like. Like Dipsy said if Peavy said no or is totally against Philly then they would come out with a statement. As far as post season stats on Peavy, remember he was the Ace of that staff and all the pressure was on him to do it all cause their team couldn't hit a ball off a tee to save their life. Here he would not be a Ace since Hamels is ours. I know Peavy has a Cy Young and great regular season stats, but Hamels has the WS MVP, NLCS MVP, I would never trade those 2 for a Cy young ever! Having support knowing your team can hit their socks off is a very appealing thing for any starter. Thats Why Myers doesn't want to leave here, the bats here can hide his mistakes.

I think you have to look at it this way: When a Stud like Peavy comes available, you have to at least inquire, especially since it is our greatest need.
