While I agree that Lidge is looking hurt, yesterday was also a by product of Utley. Utley almost single handedly lost the game, but he is human and allowed to screw up. But the miss in the 2nd inning that allowed a run or two, and then the miss throw in the 9th that probably could have resulted in the final out. Seriously, Lidge wasnt HORRIBLE last night, just still not himself.

I really feel that Lidge needs something. I firmly believe that the first blown save has gone to his head and he is frustrated and caught in a slump.

Did you see the way he was sweating last night? Worse than ever. Whatever he needs, he must find it soon or the Phils may have to get another closer so Brad can work out his issues.

Dang don’t worry guys Lidge is alright he’ll be fine once he gets his fastball to 94 and can spot his pitches then he’ll be good i don’t think he is gonna explode up like everybody think he is. I mean like seriously it wasnt that bad besides that willy harris double the others were like slow infield singles.

Mike at the top is right. Its between Lidges ears. Philly fans did not see him blow up in Houston. He is not a great closer. Madson is the man right now. He has that confident look in the games..

Everyone talks about how Lidge will be back to his old self. When I think of his old self I think of the houston astros and him blowing saves there. His old self is blowing saves. I am not to confident in him and that he will get his swagger back. i thikn were back to where we were before last year with a closer problem.

Beta Sigma Shag Says, You should be the poster child for the word “Homer”. It’s great to love your team, but lidge is not anywhere near himself, yes the velocity is there, But he is not getting hitters out,and the not fooling anyone means, to me that he doesn’t have the control in the zone that he had, Blanton stinks. Let me ask you something .you said only one bad inning. If a pitcher goes 5 innings each start and has one 4 run inning what is his era, for the year, and how he kills your pen. One thing I kept on hearing about Blanton is he is a innings eater, but last year and this he is a five inning pitcher, who gets taged . I said it last year hated the trade , But he did go 10-0 but only had 6 quality starts, Charlie was pulling him in 5 most games, They really need to after this year cut ties with this guy. We are world champs, not the stinking mets, we need better starting pitching and he isn’t it. Chooch final numbers is what you go by not a hot streak, you judge him over the course of a season. will you be bragging about ruiz in October or not posting. Look he is a great defense catcher, but just isn’t a hitter, we can get away with his lack of offense ,because we are a good offense team, but not right now. but when you are slumping his lack of offense really shows. I still believe if we add a top starter it will pump life into this team and jump start a good run.

*Carlos Ruiz (10:3) and Pedro Feliz (15:14) have each walked more than struck out this season.

*The bottom of the lineup’s combined #’s (Ibanez/Feliz/Ruiz)- 91-280 (.325), 20 dbl, 12 hr, 42 r, 53 rbi. Top of the lineup’s combined #’s (Rollins/Victorino/Utley)- 95-398 (.239), 15 dbl, 16 hr, 68 r, 54 rbi.

*Chase Utley has no hits in his last 18 at bats and is 3-33 (.091) over the last week or so.

*Ryan Howard’s homerun last night was his only hit in his last 17 at bats (.059) and he’s struck out 10 times in that span.

Ok the phillies won, can we be a little more positive. Lidge did not pitch perfect, but come on that throw from Uttly was terrible. Should of had Dunn out by 20 feet, and that slow roller to third was the only other hit. Blanton pitched well, except for that one inning were he got flustered by some marginal calls by the ump behind the plate. And with exception of Howard,(One swing does not save him) Not as many strike outs, and they were a least hitting the ball, Uttley had a few hard hits at people, I think he is coming around. And where is Geoff on how bad a hitter Chooch is, and Pete Happy is on a roll again. And Rauuuuuuuuuuullllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll is on fire, I think he loves the National League. WE WON be a little more positive please, We will Sweep today and tonight.

At the Nationals game last night. Lidge sally-stepped around 80-85 until that game tying double. after that he dialed up and blew Kearns away with 95. He’s got to use that fastball.

Happ is the man. He has saved so many games for the Phils this year, and he really should be in the starting rotation.

Chacin’s on the DL, damn this would be the perfect time to see Bastardo, 4 days rest or no. At the very least I’d rather see Kendrick than Carpenter, I don’t see Carpenter getting past the third, Happ is probly gonna end up pitching more innings than him tomorrow even without the start.

Lidge is clearly hurt. He obviously isn’t as good as he was last year, but certainly is not THIS bad. Something is wrong. As for Raul, He is god. Drew Carptenter? Really. supposedly the Phils have Gustavo Chacin floating around in our minor league bubble. Couldn’t he be a better option?

Oh, while I’m here, why in Christ’s name is Rollins still hitting first. He should be down at 7 til he learns to hit again. Lidge needs to go to AAA til he “gets his swagger back”. As for Moyer, Blanton and Park, the second half of May should be like survivor, whoever sucks the most over the next couple weeks should be canned for Happ, Kendrick, or Bastardo.

ya know, i have my opinions, but i am so sick of the blogging world and all the negative comments, Not what i see above, but in general, i love this site, but everyone’s a tough guy, be it Met Phans that forgot their homepage, CNN, Philly.com, all the other baseball sites i visit, anywhere i go, everyone is tough with their words. mean, miserable and nasty. it says something about people. i’m a peaceful lad, and i like a nice intelligent argument, but good lord, so many typing tough guys. i go to 25-30 games a year, Love Love Love my Phils, i’m going to Washington tomorrow, and hope the Phils win. i just, ugh. Go Phils!
