Okay,with Ibanez out from what everyone says and thinks could be til the All-Star break.Problem from what I see for the Phils is the same problem the Amazins had in 08,and thats a bullpen that is handing games to the opposition,and will the REAL Jimmy Rollins please stand up.Cole seems to have woken up and Happ has been a pleasant surprise for your pitching.As Gary Cohen said last week Ibanez is the Free Agent signing of the year.Just don’t give up the ship with Ibanez,Myers and Lidge yet….BUT,this does help my Amazins,and they have their own injuries too.

Impatience… we would all love to be 20 games up right now and fully healthy and talking about how good we are but the fact of the matter is that baseball is a long, grueling season. Injuries happen… slumps happen… there is no such thing as a perfect team. If you’re Ruben of Cha’lie, you gotta be patient… play your cards right and weather these storms. In the end, you have to hope that all of this brings this team together.

I don’t think that we need to do anything drastic right now. Making decisions out of necessity means that you’re overpaying and probably acting out of desperation (we could end up with another Freddy Garcia). We should let other teams show their cards and then position this team for the postseason stretch. We have glaring deficiencies… primarily a #2 starter… but right now is not the time to start making irrational decisions. You gotta go with what you’ve got, let it all shake out and jump on the right guy at the right price.

Resting Ibanez is the right thing to do. We need him healthy in September… this group has showed me that they are a team of destiny and I believe that everything happens for a reason. Right now, things couldn’t look worse except for one glaring point that overrides everything; we are in first place. Let’s not get crazy…

David – yes, but I still feel as though the Mets management will never allow the Mets to win as is. We have issues, but the Mets have more. Also, your best player is still on the field. Ours isn’t. Hence, you may be in first, but management will never allow it for long.

You know what bugs me? We think we don’t have a chance. Last year we lost first in June when Willie Randolph was fired, in ohhhhh, late June. We bounced back, made the right moves and are WFCs. Will we bounce back? I do hope so, but right now, let’s not be gloomy yet. We are only one of two good teams, according to Power Alley, in the NL. We just are slumping just like last year. I am hanging my Phillies Phlags and wearing my gear. I am fine with it. Am I nervous, sure am, but I know we can do it. As #20 said, we are a much better team than the Mets and we can take back what we give away. My only issue is we cannot take them out of the picture.

Regardless of Ibañez’s groin injury, the Phillies are still one of the most feared teams in the National League. I also believe that Phillies fans can now empathize with Mets fans as their most versatile and prolific ball player is ailing.

The Phillies now have an overused bullpen, an inconsistent starting rotation, and as of recently, an ailing star player. It is for these mentioned reasons that my decimated Mets have a chance to gain some ground in the NL East. If the Phillies had played the type of baseball that was expected of them from the very beginning of this season, they would have been the equivalent to the 2006 New York Mets; they would have been running away with the NL East.

Alas, there’s time left in this tumultuous 2009 season.

NJ, individual awards are the last thing on Ibanez’s mind (as well as the fans). He wants to recover from his injuries as soon as possible knowing his team needs him in what shapes up as a very tight race to the end of the season.
