Get your brooms out O’s fans for the sweep of the phillies, we swept philly and give them ur brooms so they can clean up filthadelpia. Nice stadium, went there sat. If the o’s were in the NL east, we’d be in first place right now after winning all the series vs. ur division.

Taschner will have been given his unconditional release. Moyer will be traded to a contender who thinks he can turn it on for them down the stretch. The Phils will get a midlevel prospect. Someone like our Joe Savery or Jason Donald.

A few points I’d like to put out there:

1) In the post season last year the Phils did something that hadn’t all last season. Take pitches and work pitchers. Teams like the Red Sox understand that the sooner you get into into the other teams bullpen, which will probably be full of shitty pitchers, the better off you’ll be. Please Phillies….start to do this.

2) Kyle Drabek is killing it in Reading. In 1982 or 83, the Mets brought up a promising pitcher from single A. His name was Dwight Gooden. Drabek is no Gooden but if his stuff is that wicked then think about bringing him up. Why not? Cuz you’ll ruin him? It’ll hurt his feeling he’ll get hit around sometimes? He’s not a race horse. Then, move Bastardo to the pen and you’ve got a serious upgrade there.

These hitting slumps are just not okay. They have gone through it in the past, yes, especially against the American League. That does not mean that they will be clutch again for the rest of the year. I certainly hope for it, but we cannot know that this year will be like the last two. It is one thing to have a spell of offensive inconsistency. It is another to be swept at home by one decent team and one weak one – with two losses against a strong opponent thrown in. Manuel does not have to rip apart furniture or shove players into lockers, but he does have to have a civil but firm discussion with the players about how frazzled pitching and moribund offense don’t always fix themselves, but instead need hands-on repair.
A contending team will have its bad times, but will almost never be swept by a last-place team at home. That is just hard to imagine. The fundamentals are so important: singles, doubles, sac bunts, hit-and-runs, stolen bases…in short, smart, basic play. If a pitcher is in good shape, then he should probably remain on the mound; pitch counts don’t even have to dictate decisions all the time. If the current complement cannot adjust to this style of play, then it might be time to import players – from other clubs or from the farm – who can.

They are just a bad team this year. Finding ways to lose. No bench. No bullpen. Hope this homestand brought some of the wild-eyed optimist back to this planet. Heard one of the tools on WIP say a couple of weeks ago, how the Phils would win the division by 10-12 games. I’ve read some similar comments by posters on here. I hope this trainwreck (how the eff do you go 1-8 on a 9 game HOMESTAND???) has knocked some of the cockiness out of the fans. Now, if only it would have the same effect on the team! Pathetic state of affairs.
New game I saw online this morning called “Where’s Rueben”? It’s about a little squirrely guy who has disappeared and is not doing anything to help his club. No one can find him.
And one more thing while I’m at it: it is virtually impossible to watch a game on TV with Wheels and TMac. Their cheery outlook on things just reeks of “company shill”, which they both are. God, I was screaming for them to STFU about 10 different times today. They are both brutal. God, do I miss HK.

ahhahaha you think the mets are going to win it this year, please you should get on a mets blog and worry about your own team since they cant win, you would like to think the phillies will choke like the mets are so good at but they still have to do it and in the meantime the phils are still the world champs until dethroned

Alright yes the Mets are losing. But even if we lose we still are only 2 games back of you guys. Wow, the Phillies are pathetic!!! You guys go 1-8 on your 9 game homestead. You lost two out of three to the Red Sox and then you get swept by the BLUE JAYS AND ORIOLES!!!!!!!!! wow, even the nationals are doing better than you. They atleast won once against the O’s and won two against the Jays. now you guys go on a road trip to TB, Toronto and Atlanta. Expect your road record to melt down as well. Wow bad luck for you. The Dobbs foul in opener vs boston. then the 5 runs bastardo allows in first inning before rain delay and then 11-6 loss. Then you came back vs the sox to win. Then blue jays game. Your closer madson blows a 3-2 lead by walking in tying run and then you allow 5 runs in extras. Then get mowed down by Scott Richmond. and then wow ROD BARAGAS HOMERS OFF MADSON IN NINTH to win. Then O’s kill you 7-2. then yesterday. 5-3 lead to ninth after classic howard homer. but zaun homers and roberts on final strike homers. Then today hamels pitches great but you guys O stinks it up. Phillies now 36-31. 23-9 on road and 13-22 at home. 2-8 in past 10. 6 game losing streak. 1-8 on the 9 game homestead. Not to mention your so closer madson is now 2-3 with a 3.06 era and only 4 saves with 3 blown saves. PATHETIC THE PHILLIES ARE. NOW the braves and marlins and we the amazin mets have caught up. myers, lidge, eyre, ibanez on dl with howard sick. good luck in WS rematch in tb. Get swept by O’s and now for Rays turn. PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

yeah, i thought this team wide batting slump might have been an anomaly last year but, to see it again, well it’s a pattern and not a matter of things not going our way…”that’s baseball” attitude is simply not an adequate way to describe the cumulative effects of poor, undiscilplined play….and enough of this pop psychology by media commentators
