Philadelphia Phillies (36-31) at Tampa Bay Rays (37-34)
Jamie Moyer (4-6, 6.35 ERA) vs. David Price (1-1, 3.46 ERA)

The Phillies road trip starts with a World Series rematch against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Phillies look to turn around their struggles on the road where they are a Major League best 23-9. They will turn to Jamie Moyer tonight.
Moyer struggled in his last outing, allowing six earned runs in six innings. However, in Game 3 of the World Series, Moyer had some success against the young Rays’ lineup. He allowed five hits, three runs, and struck out five in 6.1 innings.
Moyer will be opposed by the Rays’ best prospect, David Price. Price started the year in the minors, mainly for arbitration reasons. In his last start, Price allowed five earned runs in seven innings against the Colorado Rockies. In two relief appearances in the World Series, Price gave up two runs, one earned, in 3.1 innings.
Moyer will also see a familiar face, Pat Burrell. The Phillies better hope he doesn’t crush the Phillies like he crushed the New York Mets throughout his career.
Hopefully all the offense comes from the Phillies lineup, which will include Ryan Howard as the designated hitter. In addition to Howard, the starting lineup will include Chris Coste at first base. John Mayberry Jr. will be playing left.
Yo
ur Gameday Beer: Tonight’s beer is Holy Mackerel’s Special Golden Ale…as in “Holy Mackerel, the Phillies need a win!” This strong golden Belgian-style ale is brewed on the east coast of Florida in Fort Lauderdale. It was the winner of the Sam Adams sponsored World Homebrew Contest and weighs in at a hefty 8.5% ABV. Our friends at Barely Dine recommend a toasted Italian sandwich loaded with salami, prosciutto, provolone and Italian hot peppers. -By Brian

Hernandez struck out Ankiel, leaving the bases loaded with cards. Eli will be back in a minute to gloat, if his mommy lets him back on after dinner.

Friday – Happ
Saturday Hamels
Blue Jays pitchers are all on the DL, so all AAA and pen pitchers. We are not at CBP so we’ll be fine.

Whew, dodged another bullet. Jamie’s got 88 pitches, and hasn’t had to taken any ABs, so we should be able to get at least one more inning out of him.

very nicely done Pops only 84 pitches not bad give me one more inning than one more inning, how about a complete game by the old man, with 120 pitches does he have it in him

I hate to nitpick, but why the hell does Moyer have 3 walks through 5 innings in a 10-1 game? He should be around 65-70 pitches, not 88 too. I think he knows that with his stuff, even a 10-0 lead isn’t safe unless he really nibbles.
It’s sad.

I want Jamie to do 7 ideally. Taschner and #63 to close it, and it gives us a well-rested pen.
Nice, pops will get a rest.
Now only two without hits. Thogh Jimmy scored a run, so credit there.
Jimmy for DH? HAHAHAHHA

If he does not nibble this game becomes 10-8 really quickly.

Morris, you mean 18-10 if he doesn’t nibble.
