I was born there and moved in 2003, so I understand. I am in Braves Country, but obviously I bleed Phillie red. I know what you mean about the Redskins. I always thought DC was a bad place for the Nats. I was thinking North Carolina or Tennesee for a baseball team when the Expos moved.

AJ- not a football fan either, just want the Eagles to win well…cause they represent Philly but mainly so Eagles fan will stop their incessant hand wringing and complaints. I was born here, left when I was a kid in ’80, lived in DC area, moved back to philly in ’08…In DC there is only one team, the Redskins, so when I came here and we won the WS and ended the championship drought, I thought I’d finally be living in a baseball town. Then when the Eagles went to the play-offs, well, I realized the town really bleeds green more that red. And then there were those Eagle chants during the WS games which really pissed me off since well…the birds have yet to seal the deal. The Cup however must return to us espcially when the Flyers have the best winning percentage after the Habs.

I’ve been saying this has been Lidge’s problem (so did HOF joe morgan when he had trouble in Houston). Once I read this, it strengthen my opinion that Lidge has been either tipping pitches or has altered his mechanics so that batters are picking up the slider’s rotation to early and know to lay off it.

Whoever posted as Jamie above – Priceless. Love it, I defended him and Brad Lidge – so I say the same who ripped mercilessly. I also STILL defend Coste. laugh at me if you will.

j reed – Good point. Let me rephrase it this way. I love the Phillies more than life, but I don’t follow football, hockey, etc. hence, I feel for the BASEBALL fans that love the Pirates. Not the ones that have every trophy in every other sport. I mean Pirate fans have not seen a winning team in a while.

Brian – I commented on TK a bit ago. I wish the Phillies would snag him in abuot a year. Enough time that he would be Todd and not known as Harry’s son. It would just be nice to have him, but again, not too soon or he will never have his own identity.

Todd Kalas does the in-game reporting on Fox. I just saw him on the Rays telecast on mlb extra innings. He was like T-Mac, chilling in the seats talking about twitter. He’s pretty good.

AJ- as a baseball fan yeah i feel bad for them, but they do have the Cup and the Lombardi trophy to comfort them….Actually, I think the success of those teams has let the poor policies of the Pirates management fly under the radar because except for the generation who can recall the Pirate’s past glory, most of Pittsburgh has been placated with 6 superbowls and 3 Stanely Cups. I HATE THOSE PENGUINS. I still haven’t recovered from that game 6 nightmare.

Watching the Rangers/D-Backs game. Kevin Millwood – another person I would take back. Rangers are not trading though obviously…

If we trade, we need to seriously look at Cliff Lee, or a team in the AL near last place who is willing. Since Oakland doesn’t have anything, I think the Indians would deal. At what cost; no clue…

I feel bad for Pirates fans. I could not imagine how it would feel every time they get a good, established player, he is traded for prospects. At least we ship our prospects before they’re proven so we won’t know they’re future Hall of Famers (Ryne Sanberg, Schilling – as much I could not stand him, etc.)

morris- yeah the Sixers….well the NBA in general…you have to throw a season if you want to rebuild to draft the guy, the next superstar you seem to need in the NBA to win…Cool thing is I hear is that they are going back to the ’83 uniforms. Thanks for the info on the Pirates promo. I guess they are that desperate for fans…Too bad they traded McClouth… I think it angered the diehards enough that trading one of their pitchers will throw those remaining pirates fans off the deep end. With Penny looking more and more off the market (or at least you’d be over paying for him) as well as Marquis and Cook looking less viable, I was looking to the pirates….wait and see i guess

If you are going to Pittsburgh for a game, go to the Pirates website and search for the Birthday promotion. If you sign up, you get a free ticket to any game. You just have to choose your game.

I will actually be in Pittsburgh a few weeks before the Phillies go there, but I am looking to make a day and half trip for the Phillies.

The Flyers have almost no cap room, they will need to do a lot of dealing to free up space, but I would not be surprised if they signed Boumeester. Ed Snider does not screw around when it comes to the Flyers. The Sixers on the other hand…
