On the heels of Brad Lidge’s DL assignment, the Phillies face the final three games of their 10-game road trip: A three-night set with the Mets at Citi Field.
The Mets have been reeling lately, with injuries to practically have their regular team. Luckily for them, Johan Santana gets the call. The almost certain Hall of Famer is 3-0 with a 2.44 ERA against the Phillies lifetime. This season he defeated them in his only start against them — a seven-inning, 10-strikeout pseudo-masterpiece against Chan Ho Park.
The Phillies counter with rookie JA Happ, who has faced the Mets a good lot. He threw 5.2 scoreless innings against them already this season. Both Carlos Beltran and David Wright have taken Happ deep in his career.
So far Citi Field hasn’t treated Phillie regulars too well. Ryan Howard is hitting .250 (though with a home run), Raul Ibanez is hitting .250, Shane Victorino is hitting .250, Jimmy Rollins is hitting .222, Pedro Feliz is hitting .143, Chase Utley is hitless. Only Jayson Werth (.500, HR) has had real success.
Your gamenight beer: Lagunitas recently released this tall drink of water: Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’. The label is great enough, but the beer is a refreshing wheat, perfect for summer. Eat some grilled cheese and tomato soup with this.
Go Phillies!

Know why this hurts? Because despite how well our starters have been, despite how many runs we’ve been getting up on the board, despite the injuries the Mets have and do have, we’re only two games up. And I think its because of those blown saves. We should’ve swept the Yanks and swept the Dodgers. And I think that really hurts us now, only two games up when in my opinion we should be around 4, even after the loss tonight.
Now, I did predict that we would lose tonight so it doesn’t sting too bad, and I think tomorrow is a safe bet, and Thursday might not be so safe but I still think Moyer will bring it. So lets go get the series and get back to four games up.
