Philadelphia Phillies (33-23) at New York Mets (31-25)
Cole Hamels (4-2, 4.40 ERA) vs. Mike Pelfrey (4-2, 4.85 ERA)
Time: 7:10 p.m.
Weather: Cloudy, 69
TV: Comcast SportsNet

As another thrilling Phillies-Mets series continues, Cole Hamels looks to even the score against New York and Mike Pelfrey tonight.
Hamels is coming off his best outing of 2009, a complete-game shutout of the Dodgers Friday night. Now he’ll face a team he hasn’t yet faced in 2009, but has had some success against throughout his career (1-3, 3.79 ERA). Backing Hamels will be an offensive attack that launched four home runs off Johan Santana last night. It was the first time in Santana’s career he allowed three home runs to left-handed hitting. All the stars were out to play last night – it was the first time all season Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez and Jimmy Rollins homered in the same game.
The Mets will send out Mike Pelfrey, who has already faced the Phillies twice this season, winning both times but recording a 4.38 ERA. Pelfrey is hittable and has shown to be erratic this season, so look for the lefties to have some success. If not, tomorrow will be as big a must win as you can get in mid June.
I’m at the game tonight. Tune into my Twitter to get updates straight from the source.
Your gamenight beer: A favorite of mine from the Sam Adams franchise: It’s Cherry Wheat. This beer is perfect for May and June. With cherry flavoring, it almost overpowers the nice, Dubbel-quality brew. Don’t drink too many – it can get you inebriated quicker than you think. For dinner, eat chicken salad with ruffled potato chips. They can have their apple, we have our cherries.
Go Phillies!

Man I really hate Cole not having his A game today, the trolls will be out in force tonight. Guess not much to watch on DVR tonight,
I am not conceding anything yet tonight, I just wished Cole would have pitched better in NY. It is a long season I am sure he will face them again and hopefully be a little more dominating

I love when baseball players are portrayed to look like tough guys. Unless you’re a total psycho like Uggie Urbina I’d rather watch paint dry than ball players talk smack.

cxl72,
I wonder who is the bigger “tool” in this blog tonight, cxl72. Is it you for incessantly commenting on how distasteful my writing is, or me for even paying attention to you?

They showed a stat that Howard was like 4-26 against Feliciano. I think that was an error by Manuel not having him in here against Howard and Ibanez. C’mon Rauuuuul.

Rauuuul needs to pretend it was Pefrey that blogged on his PED usage.

Its so funny how a pitcher can get unhinged when runners get on base.

YES finally a bleeder. Howard should probably be on third but I would rather him be on 2nd and safe since he’s not the tying run.

MISTAKE—Manuel should have had Felciano in there for those 2 guys.
I’d like to see a little Matt Stairs here. Losing faith in Werth against RHP.

Centerfielders slip and its so damn subtle. They miss 1 or 2 balls a series, 3 balls a week. 78 balls in a year. Beltran is a shell of himself.

Sorry to hear that Shag. Sean Green and his 5.70 ERA in vs. Pedro Feliz

Feliz has got to be careful here because Green is a groundball, sinkerball pitcher just like Pelfrey. He also tends to be wild (Victorino walk off walk comes to mind). A double in the gap and I would shart myself.
