Philadelphia Phillies (34-23) at New York Mets (31-26)
Jamie Moyer (4-5, 6.27 ERA) vs. Tim Redding (0-2, 6.97 ERA)
Time: 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field, Queens, NY
Weather: Rain, 64
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Twitter: Phillies Nation
It might be raining, but if the Phillies and Mets hook up tonight, it’ll be a storm of a different kind brewing at Citi Field. So far in the three-game series we’ve seen two one-run games, one extra-inning game, a bunch of home runs (including three from Chase Utley), great pitching, bad pitching, great defense, bad pitching, clutch hitting, bonehead hitting and plenty of noise. Just your typical Phils and Mets tussle.
Last night Cole Hamels couldn’t survive long, while Mike Pelfrey gave the Mets a solid start. But while the Mets couldn’t solve their own problems against the Phils bullpen, the good guys got theirs. In extras, the Phils escaped every Mets rally until Utley could post his second longball, winning the game. Tonight there might be more longballs: Jamie Moyer and Tim Redding – owners of ERAs north of 6.00 – hook up.
Of course, Redding is known as a certified Phillie Killer. For his career he’s 5-3 with a 3.29 ERA against the Phils. Last year he was mixed in five starts – one dominating (shutout) and one horrid (seven earned), but then three pretty normal starts. Hopefully the Phils can do more than normal against Redding.
Moyer had trouble last time against the Mets, giving up a couple home runs and being lifted early. This season he’s 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA against the Metropolitans.
Your gamenight beer: Citi Field has something good going for it: Big Apple Brews, a nice centrally located kiosk in the centerfield midway. Among the good beers in bottle there were Leffe (a Belgian blonde) and Goose Island IPA. This complex brew has the potent hops, but also contains sweet tastes of citrus. You’ll find it enjoyable, even if you’re at Citi Field (which, as I’ll post tomorrow, is actually a nice ballpark). Chow on some fried shrimp and Basmati rice with this.
Go Phillies!

Rollins gets ahead 3-0 but takes the next 2 for called strikes before popping out to Wright in Foul Territory. Started great and ended horribly.

well at least for this at bat, hes battling! From mlb.com I dont get how the 3rd ball was a ball, yet pitch 4 was a strike. They seemed opposite. Damn Rollins. Hopefully Victorinow or Utley does something.

I wonder what will be higher at the end of the year…Howards average or his Strike Outs?
Now would be a good time for Ibanez to extend his 11 game hitting streak!

Well it seems, whenever you have a 1-2 pitch to howard, give him a high pitch out of the strike zone. gets hims every time.
