Common sense prevailed huh? Escolona was up before and didnt look bad really. I mean, he’s no Mad Dog or anything, but he seemed pretty manageable as I recall.

Six outs, 2 innings and 3 earned runs. Heck, his coffee is stiff warm before leaving.

Maybe Escalona was not available yesterday? Kendrick was scheduled to start in AAA yesterday. So maybe that was it. Yeah that was it……

In showing a little compassion for Kendrick, It does not seem fair to judge his performance on just one appearance. He had a perfect 1-2-3 (all ground ball outs) inning that was followed by an inning that featured seeing eye groudball hits that seem to unnerved Kendrick and his control. The rest is history with the patient Bosox hitters doing the damage.

It does bring up the question of why they brought up Kendrick and not Escolona the first time. Kendrick is a starter (50 of 51 outings in 2007-8 for the Phillies) and that obviously is his comfort zone. If they wanted a replacement for lefty reliever Eyre, then it makes sense to have Escalona, another lefty in that role. Go figure.

    Bruce,

“seeing eye groudball hits that seem to unnerved Kendrick and his control.

I believe that is why the org. has soured on Kendrick, because of his tendency to get rattled and his inability to settle down once he has been smacked around a bit.

They were hitting him hard. Even the outs were hit hard.

Please trade him. The 1st inning he pitched – wonderful. 2nd = disaster. He doesn’t have a clue to what it takes to be a MLB pitcher. He’s in need of a breaking pitch. Until that happens, he’s not a MLB pitcher

Are they gonna get this game in tonight? I just checked the weather and it says scattered thunderstorms and light showers all night.

I have tix and really dont want to drive down and pay for parking just to find out they are gonna reschedule.

escalona didn’t give up a single run in his appearances and kendrick gave up three in his first. This was a no brainer.

After a few hits, the look on Kendrick’s face is exactly like the kid who pitches in Dazed and Confused when he sees all the seniors waiting to beat him with paddles

Put it this way, if Kendrick just pitched that one inning we would’ve had a different reaction to him. But what we saw was, once a guy reached base, a kid who still doesn’t have the makeup to do it in a big situation.

Kendrick was there to eat innings, since the pen had a lot of work earlier in the week. Now the right move was made. I also think Park’s impressive work in his last two outings helped Amaro make his decision.

Koplove is a free agent after requesting his release, as per his contract. Majewski is still down at AAA. I just checked the radar, and it’s not looking good for a rainout. If we’re fortunate enough to get a do-over with a rainout, it would probably be played on Monday, as both teams have an open date.

Why do the Phils always get that deer in the headlights look against the RSox? Guess Escalona will be back on the train tonight. Too bad he can’t take Chollie and Tashner with him!
How could Chollie bring in Tashner after the Phils cut the lead to 5-4 tonight? Does anjybgody out there believe that this is not a three game road sweep in the making?
