it was a clean, but tough play… you don’t often see it anymore, but it extended the game for the Phillies.. enough for Dobbs to watch a couple nice pitches!

But i think Rollins gets drilled tonight.

How about that one Changeup that KRod threw to Stairs.. dove Low & Away at the last minute.. that pitch was kinda nasty.. should be another good game tonight!

Heard the same about KC.

3 of the 4 games.. Friday we did Rooftop Bleachers across from RF
Saturday we had good seats on the 3b side.
Sunday we had OF Bleacher seats in the hot, hot sun, and we were hungover

The people out there couldn’t be nicer.. even to opposing fans.. they liked us because they too hated Mets fans. And they all kept telling us that we were the one team they didn’t want to face int he playoffs last year..

I wanted to see the Jake (Progressive Field?).. in Cleveland at some point.

I heard KC’s stadium is really nice.. Dodgers Stadium (as long as I don’t get stabbed or “shanked”).. and the Padres new digs look kinda cool too, with that Warehouse in LF

They should have made those walls a dark blue.. or dark green.. like a normal stadium.

The dimensions out there will make it interesting though.. make you earn HRs.. and guys that bust it out of the box might be able to steal some triples off the walls on balls that don’t get high enough..

I heard that Cinncy’s park is the worst “new” one.. it has nothing cool or unique at all..

I’ve been to PNC in Pittsburgh (my favorite NEW one).. San Francisco’s is awesome too.. Fenway and Wrigley.. and I think I liked Wrigley better

Old Yankee stadium was a dump, haven’t seen the new one..

Camden Yards was cool, I haven’t been there in a long, long time though

I am an even keel Mets fan who has seen the Best and Worst of times in the last 30 yrs.

a) Great Game, Philly is still the #1 team in the game right now, They are a #2 starter away from bieng incredible.
b) Mets absolutely choked 2 years ago, if we can truly count last year a choke not sure, but If the Phils lose Lidge for the rest of the season in the middle of the season and are left with JC and Madsen closing games, we will see.
c) MIddle relievers are what they are, failed starters and scarey closers… Condrey today, Feliciano can be goat toNIGHT. Phils fans don’t get too uptight about it.
D) WE ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST RIVALRY IN BASEBAL RIGHT NOW
E) And finally, you are all welcome for the horrible trade we made, Juan Samuel for Dykstra..

One positive side is we weren’t supposed to win that game last night based on pitching matchups. We almost did. I think next time we play Santana we beat him.

We dropped another close one… and this one hurt because we could have really made a statement.

As much as I hate to say it, at some point Charlie needs to step up and take some responsibility. Condrey should have been taken out after Santana hit that double. As a relief pitcher, a slug-bunt hit coming from the pitcher has to really rattle your focus. When Condrey loses focus, it gets ugly. He has good stuff but he does have a tendency to take certain situations for granted (with the pitcher at the plate, he was more worried about fielding his position than throwing the right pitch).

Also, with the game on the line, we didn’t have a pinch runner. Why? Because we’re carrying three catchers! The only guy with any speed on the bench is Bruntlett. With Stairs at first base in the 9th, the Mets are playing a no doubles defense… no pressure… not a chance that Stairs is going to steal. K-Rod settles back into his groove and records the final out… Dobbs with the bat resting on his shoulder.

K-Rod is tough… he’s a good closer. What I like about him is that he’s not afraid to throw a changeup at any time and his changeup is pretty good… it’s certainly not unhittable but you can’t sit on it because he has a 95 MPH fastball with some giddy up (he really jumps at the hitters). I think that you have to put pressure on him and we had the chance to do that… you gotta get someone on base and get him moving. Make him think… I know that you’re not supposed to play for the tie on the road but when he’s able to take his time and settle in, he’s a guy that can deal. I trust Lopes and maybe he didn’t think Jimmy could make it (and I would be ok with that) but I would have sent him if he thought that he could.

He did make a pretty nice play though getting to that foul ball (forget who hit it) near the fence. Not that I think he’s a better outfielder than any of our guys or anything….just an observation.

and after 20? years in the league.. you would think he wouldn’t bitch and complain about pitches down the heart of the plate being called STRIKES!!!

but he did last night.. the at-bat where he K’d with the bases loaded.. he bitched about the both strikes thrown to him

And while we’re critiquing/praising players…how about the play by Ibanez with his throw to second….HUGE.

not a season-changing anything in my mind.. both teams are banged up right now..

If they had won that game in our ballpark.. maybe it gives them some confidence. But it was a home game, with their ACE on the mound.. a game that they should have won much more easily..

If anything it scared them that we got to Santana a little bit.. and our Lefty’s took him deep.. Rollins with a great game..

I’m fine with last night.. sucks we lost, but we get to take a crack at them tonight

And was anybody surprised that Jerry Manuel took Santana out with his pitch count in the low 90s with a strike/ball ratio of something like 70/20?? Ok…it worked out…..but I was a bit surprised.

I feel like Durbin is going to give up runs every single time he enters the game.. which sucks because he was GREAT for us for most of last year.

I didn’t like Stairs pinch-hitting before Dobbs, because Jimmy couldn’t steal.. they would have definitely walked Stairs.

Why not have Dobbs hit there.. if Rollins steals and they want to walk Dobbs to put guys on 1st and 2nd with Stairs at the plate, and only one out.. ??? That should have been the move..

How about Rollins take-out slide at second!!!! I wonder how he’s feeling today.. that one had to hurt, and he looked like he was limping in the dugout after the game. Clean play.. kept the game alive.. Hell of a game by Jimmy last night

Shane Victorino throwing home with Santana running was dumb.. Howard was off the bag, so he had a long, long way to go to get to a spot to cut that ball off.. just not a good play by Victorino (ended up not hurting us, but not smart)
