I disagree with the poster that says that Burrell buries Werth with every statistic. Burrell’s average is about the same, Werth will only hit about 5 fewer homers than “the Bat” and he’ll have over 30 steals. Not to mention he’s a far better defender than Burrell ever was (think about Pat trying to play center field). Sure he got walks, but they knew that he couldn’t run and that the bottom of the order stunk. Burrell probably was a better player, but not by much.

I think the issue can be resolved temporarily if you send down taschner (if he has to clear waivers, so be it) and bring up mayberry. Give Victorino a couple days off as he recovers and maybe sit Werth after playing CF for a few games. After a week reconsider and if you have to send Mayberry down, do so. Worse case scenario you lose Traschner and bring up one of AAA’s serviceable bullpen arms.

I am a die hard Phillies Phan, but I like Cody’s style. He just plays hard and would fit in with the style of play. If there was a way, this is what would fit perfectly. Only thing is someone would be platooning.
