What I do not get is how JA available for trade talk, but Bastardo is not. JA has shown more stuff, has more pitches he can throw for strikes, and has pitched in some big time games, I realize this was posted before last nights loss, but I would keep JA i think he will be solid 3 starter in this league for a long time.

BTW I just went back and read the DeRosa thread that is posted above this one and it’s just hilarious. Most of you were comparing Marquis to Eaton and were worried that if we signed Marquis we would lose out on Moyer, who everyone now hates on this board.

So does anyone want a mulligan on their opinion of this one? Marquis and DeRosa for Happ and Coste? Aside from his last start, Marquis has been one of the best 10 starters in the NL so far this year and DeRosa is killing the ball. He would have been a nice guy to have to put some freaking pressure on Werth and JRoll when they are looking like 4th graders at the plate.

I just heard about this trade and boy does it sound promising… I heard that Jimmy Rollins is on the trade block. For who you might ask? Well, rumor has it that the Phils might be willing to part with the pop-up phenom for a manaquin. But not just any manaquin; it one that is wearing a Jimmy Rollins jersey. I think this is a great trade because at least when manaquin Jimmy is at the plate he might draw some walks and raise his OBP above -.458. Although it might get a little complicated once he is on base. Either way we’d get more production. Or what they could do is trade him for an out. That way each time at the start of a game they just start with one out and Shane Victorino up to bat. It would save money and aggravation.

Yeah I am fairly convinced that Donald will never be on this team full time. I am sure they would be least reluctant to part with him. Taylor surprises me because I personally would have viewed him as someone who could have taken over for Werth after next year (or Vic or Raul depending on the situation). I guess they feel that Dom Brown has a bigger ceiling, but at this point it’s hard to overlook what Taylor is doing at Reading.

I think all efforts need to be zeroed in on Lee because he seems to be about the only quality arm available and quite frankly, I believe the Mets will get him if we don’t. If that means throwing in an extra guy than so be it. Having a Cy Young starter go on the trading block and losing him to the Mutts would be a double whammy for the team.

What would you rather have 4 unproven prospects that could be great professional ball players or a second world championship in two years? I really think that this is the start of a dynasty here friends…

No-ones untouchable in the right deal as we saw with LaPorta last year, it’s going to be tough to expect a frontline pitcher to be available this year. That said I think it’s a forgone conclusion the Phils will add an arm for the rotation if Myers is unable to come back later in the year.

Yeah isn’t the point of the trade to get a strong number 2? Happ should stay here as I think he is only going to improve this year. Marquis is not a strong number 2 at all.

And with all the guys who are considered “untouchable” – its really a joke. If we are in a position to get a real quality 2 started, everyone should be on the table to win a championship this year. And if we can get another starter will be a realistic goal for this team.

Zach Duke could be had but tough call on him long-term, having a great year but Maholm seems to be the one thought of as the most talented. Feel sorry for those Bucs fans, you know Huntington’s waiting by the phone ready to grab his next handful of ‘magic beans’…

I just dont see the Indians parting with Lee, though I wouldnt mind if they did.

I’m also kind of reluctant to let Taylor go. He could be special, though I guess they think Dominic Brown will be too. Reggie Taylor anyone??

Glad they didnt pull the trigger on Marquis, he’s still suspect in my eyes. Zach Duke – YES. Paul Maholm – NO.
