Ugh! Not good news. For a split second last week our bullpen finally seemed to be in full strength. Now its in trouble again. Hope you get better soon Scott!

I guess its good now that Taschner got his groove and can be a situational lefty for us.

Man the bullpen is going down. No more injuries. Just when they started to get into a groove. Durbin better pick up his game because he’s gonna need to throw some innings and yes Taschner needs to pick up his game as well. Picking each other up is what I like to see.

Ah, what does “awhile” mean? If it’s just a few days, then no problem We just got a fresh JC back, and Escalona, who pitched well in his previous call-up, can be re-called, since his option for this year has already been exercised. The rest of the bullpen is putting up zeroes. Condrey had only that one blip in the radar on Tuesday. Clay pitched lights-out again last night. As did Durbin, who pitched well on successive nights. Taschner has been throwing well as of late, and Seoul Man seems to be realizing that, at this point in his career, he is more effective out of the ‘pen.

On the other hand, if Eyre’s calf injury is bad (and I know how bad they can be), he could be out for a month or so, maybe we’ll see the return Mike Zagurski, who seems to have gotten his mojo back.

Jeez, and this morning I was humming a slightly altered old Alka Seltzer commercial “plop, plop, fizz, fizz oh what a relief we have”

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer: “Lefthander Scott Eyre, who retired the only batter he faced in the ninth inning to preserve a 4-4 tie, injured his calf during the at-bat, according to Charlie Manuel. Eyre will be re-evaluated today. “I think it could be serious,” Manuel said. “He may be out for a while.”
