I’m not sure of the Pirates gameplan here. I don’t have a problem rebuilding but I thought McLouth had a reasonable contract for a few years. Trading him at his peak value is smart, but did they really capitalize and get a ton in this trade? I’m not so sure.

Theyre building around pitching and Ryan Doumit. Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson and probably even Adam LaRoche will be traded too. Theyll get some good prospects for Sanchez, maybe a young power bat. Then theyll draft ad sign Aaron Crow.

They appear to be building around Maholm, Capps, McCutchen, Pedro Alvarez, and Doumit. They may even move Ian Snell if anyone wants him

They have Jose Tabata, MCCutchen, & now Gorkys Hernandez to be their new OF of the future..

still, I thought they should have kept McClouth. The mistake they make is the same mistake the Phillies made until they stopped doing it…they rebuild too much. The Phillies did that until they found the right group of prospects to come up in the system. I guess thats what the Pirates are doing, but they have to decide at some point that this is the group they want to go with.

they should have built around McClouth. there’s a reason the Pirates are always under .500…I think they could have gotten more for McClouth than what they got.

The Braves will be in the race, likely being the team breathing down the Phils’ necks. If McClouth hits for Atl it will ease things up for Francouer. Chipper stays healthy (long shot). They already have the best pitching in the NL East and just may have gotten that steady bat they were desperate for. This next 4+ months is gonna be a blast.

I thought McClouth was signed for a few years…I guess the Bucs like McKuteon better. They really need stability in that organization. They have to find a group of young players they like and stick with them for 5-7 years like the Phillies did. I think they are doing that, but I assumed McClouth was part of that…guess not.

Glavine released, McClouth in fom the PIrates (I like him as a hitter) for Starting PItchers Jeff Locke and Charlie Morton and CF Gorkys Hernandez.

This is a good trade for both sides. Andrew Mckuteon will come up to join the Pirates now and hernandez is a plus prospect.

That McLouth trade is interesting. I’m not a huge McLouth fan, his defense is vastly overrated, but the Braves didn’t give up a lot here.

I just read that Tommy Hanson got called up and is starting for the Braves on Saturday.

I’d like to see Romero get himself into the middle of the action tonight. Get him right back into tight-game form by bringing him in during the 7th in a close game. Don’t give me any of this “work him into it gradually because he might be rusty” shit. He’s a professional pitcher and he’s had plenty of rehab assignments in the last few weeks. He is ready.
