Feliz’s Salami Leads To Sweep

The last time the Phillies were at home, they had one of their worst homestands in franchise history, going 1-8. Talk about a turn around. The Phillies went 9-1 during this homestand, one of the best homestands in team history.

Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino each reached base for Chase Utley. Utley hustled out an infield single.

Utley’s hustle will be overshadowed by the performance of his teammates, but Utley’s hard-nosed play was a key factor in the Phillies win. On a line drive, Utley dove to second to double off the runner, NLCS style. He also deeked Andrew McCutchen, leading to another double play.

Utley’s infield single opened the gates for Pedro Feliz after Ryan Howard’s sacrifice fly scored Rollins. Feliz hit a grand slam to left field, breaking the game open, 5-0.

The Phillies knocked out started Virgil Vasquez after only 1.1 innings. On the other hand, J.A Happ was terrific. He allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks in seven innings.

J.C Romero allowed a home run to Garrett Jones in the ninth, his third homer of the series. However, Romero finished off the 5-2 Phillies win.

With the win, Happ improved to 6-0. He has not lost since making his Major League debut in 2007.

The Phillies head into the All Star Break on a positive note, sweeping the Pittsburgh Pirates. During the 9-1 homestand, they outscored opponents 66-27, and improved to 10 games over .500.

Happ shouldn’t be in any trade talks, he’s our ace right now.

I would have to agree, I have not seen the game yet will watch it on DVR, but from the numbers Happ look pretty strong, another 7 inning outing is great to see. Like I have stated before if it takes Drabek for Halladay, that is fine with me, but there is no way you trade a pitcher like JA
    Just my opinion

There is no way we should get rid of happ. pedro would be an iffy starter with no recent real game pitching. as for toronto, we would be stupid to get rid of our best pitcher right now. hamels is not even very consistend

MadDingers, I apologize for any errors I made in this post or in the past. I’m only human. I’m really sorry, I know how frustrating it can be for a reader to see mistakes.

MadDingers…before you open your mouth and bash the woman, how about you make sure you don’t have any errors first.

    Let’s see….

Should of capitalized Tim Malcom, Amanda, Felizs’ and Bako

    writes with so many errors*

    That is**

Happ is putting Roy Halladay numbers up there. Trading him would be stupid.

And the good news is the Phils ARE indeed the hottest team in baseball going into the AS break.
Nice ceremony before the game, the coaching staff and players all got their AS jerseys including the fanatic. Cool as it was, when Jayson Werth was introduced, he ran out from the dugout and all but tackled the phanatic in a big hug and when Shane was introduced, the guys would not let him go out of the dugout, they were holding him back – the guys are loose and playing well.
The All star game should be fun, it would be great to see 3 Phils in the outfield at the same time. Anyone else excited that Howard will be playing in his favorite stadium to hit in? His mother will be there cheering him on as usual.
    Go Phils!
