Gameday 2009, Posts
American League (36-41-2) at National League (41-36-2)
Gametime: 8:00 p.m on FOX at Busch Stadium.
NL Lineup: Hanley Ramirez (SS)/ Chase Utley (2B)/ Albert Pujols (1B)/ Braun (RF)/ Raul Ibanez (LF)/ David Wright (3B)/ Shane Victorino (CF)/ Yadier Molina (C)/ Tim Lincecum (P).
AL Lineup: Ichiro Suzuki (RF)/Derek Jeter (SS)/ Joe Mauer (C)/ Mark Teixeira (1B)/ Jason Bay (LF)/ Josh Hamilton (CF)/ Michael Young (3B)/Aaron Hill (2B)/Roy Halladay (P).
Many of the best players in baseball meet up for the 80th Mid-Summer Classic! Charlie Manuel will be coaching the National League. Phillies managers are 5-0 all time in All Star Games. Manuel will look to make it 6-0 and stop the American League’s streak of 11 consecutive wins (plus one tie).
There are five Phillies on the NL roster; starters Chase Utley, Raul Ibanez, Shane Victorino, and reserves Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth. The last time the Phillies had five All Stars was in 1995.
Your Gameday Beer: Your choice!
This one counts. Go National League!

Longoria’s out. Scratched due to some sort of minor injury. Michael Young starting at third.

Yes, Longoria has an infected ring finger. Chone Figgins has taken his place on the AL Roster, Michael Young will start in his spot. Thanks John Fire.

—This blog is slowwwwwww today—
Good job by Charlie, pinch-hitting Fielder early on and getting that RBI….
Also, this looks like the Fox-Pujols Game, not the All-Star game… show some more respect for the other all-stars, cmon!

Fox really sucks I mean it’s the Obama/Pujols show. I don’t watch the news or CNN for the exact reason of not having to hear him and now I have to listen to his crap during the ASG. I also love how the only players on the Phils worth mentioning as “good guys” are the black ones…smooth moves Obama. On a lighter note this game seems to have turned around and hopefully the NL strikes while the iron is hot!

The NL has to take this game. The Phils do not want to play game 7 of the 1915 rematch in Fenway Park, trust me on that.
And by the way, Mets fans, one reason your team is struggling so bad is because its 30-homers-a-year third basemen has only five at the break, and on top of that, he is one of the worst fielding hot corner dudes in the league, with 12 errors and a .948 percentage. And your ace has suddenly gone sour. In last seven games, Santana has:
44 IP
44 H
16 BB
23 SO
5.10 ERA
If your healthy players were playing better, you would be a game or two out instead it’s 6.5. I know the injuries have been significant, but at times like that, teams with heart have other people step up. But Wright, Santana, and certainly Minaya are not performing like champions.
Not that I’m trying to get a whole Mets thing started here tonight. I just get a little tired hearing about the complaints. And since you guys are hanging out here during the All-Star game, I figured I’d put in my two cents.
Go NL! GO PHILS!

Bobby- I don’t know how Hamels’ numbers stack up to Santana’s, but our ace hasn’t been all that acely this year.
