Gameday 2009, Posts
Chicago Cubs (47-43) at Philadelphia Phillies (51-38)
Ted Lilly (9-6, 3.18 ERA) vs. Rodrigo Lopez (1-0, 3.18 ERA)
Time: 7:05 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Mostly Cloudy
TV: MYPHL 17
Twitter: Phillies Nation
The Phillies had an incredible 9-1 homestand the last time they were home. This homestand will be tougher, but the Phillies have been unstoppable for the past couple weeks, winning eight straight.
Both teams will keep a close eye on both their starters. Ted Lilly was pushed back from Saturday’s start with inflammation in his left knee. Rogrido Lopez hasn’t pitched in 11 days and he left his last start with right-shoulder inflammation.
Lopez’s spot in the rotation is in jeopardy as Pedro Martinez takes steps closer to the big leagues. Lopez allowed eight runs in 4.2 innings in his only career start against the Cubs.
Lilly is coming off his 100th career win. Most of his success has come at home. At Wrigley Field, Lilly has a 1.18 ERA; on the road it is 4.66. Against the Phillies in his career, Lilly is 1-3 with a 4.88 earned run average (4.66 at Citizens Bank Park).
Your Gameday Beer- Sweaty Betty Blonde
This beer is bananas. No, it’s not a banana beer, but it has hints of musty banana bread which believe it or not is a good thing. It’s another good summer beer, an American Pale Wheat Ale that will remind you of a Belgian White. It finishes a little rough, so drink it fast but take some time to enjoy fried chicken with it. – By Brian
GO PHILLIES!

Should be a tough matchup tonight for the Phils. Lilly is real good.

Grif…
Lilly has been good at home, a 1.86 era, but on the road he has a 4.45 era. He hasn’t been too good on the road. He’s a lefty so the Phils will have some troubles but we shall see.

Is anyone else in complete awe of what Raul Ibanez continues to do? There is no freakin way anyone saw this coming. If you say you did, your a liar.

I figured he would be a bit of an upgrade over BUrrell, especially in the consistency department. But man, he’s been above and beyond.

I expected that Raul would make pitchers think twice before walking Ryan Howard. I never thought he would be the kind of powerhouse he has been! Definitely best trade I can remember!

A mlb network report the mets turned down a Jays offer for Roy Halladay for Bobby Parnell, Jon Nise, Fernando Martinez and Ruben Tejada jr and a player i for got. wow

Ibanez bailed us out again. The Phils have to get Rollins hom from 3rd without a HR. I missed Utley’s grounder. Any chance to score?

I like the commercials they’ve been having for Raul, making fun of announcers mispronouncing his name. :)

I’m gonna trust Amaro on whatever he decides with Halladay. He hasn’t missed yet with his signings. Rauuuul’s our best player. Amazing!

Mets say they dont want to gut the farm. Also lost in all of this mets news is the fact the owner lost 700 million to maddof so they arent loaded with cash. It would have been a steal.

How does everyone feel what the phils should do about Halladay with the trade deadline just 11 days away? I say get him now no matter what the price may be. The future is now.

Are you serious you really think the mets rejected that? He probably wouldn”t even waive his no trade clause for them. If it is true then thank you lord. I would hate to see a Santana/Halladay 1/2 punch.
