Cincinnati Reds (41-42) at Philadelphia Phillies (44-38)

Micah Owings (6-8, 4.48 ERA) vs. Jamie Moyer (7-6, 5.72 ERA)

Time: 7:05 p.m at Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Partly Cloudy, 75
TV: Comcast Sportsnet

Jamie Moyer takes the hill tonight against the Reds. In his last three starts, Moyer is 3-0 with a 3.11 earned run average. Moyer faced the Reds earlier this season and gave up three runs over six innings.

Micah Owings will start for Cincinnati. He is 2-1 with a 4.13 ERA in his career against the Phillies. He was rocked in his last start against the Phillies; five earned runs in three innings. Chase Utley is 5-for-10 with a home run and Greg Dobbs has two career home runs against Owings.

The Phillies have scored only six runs since their 22 run outburst. With Moyer on the mound, three runs may not cut it. They have a good chance against Owings, but run support is key for Moyer. With a win, the Phillies will take 3 of 4 from the Reds.

Tonight’s lineup: Rollins (SS)/Victorino (CF)/ Utley (2B)/ Howard (1B)/ Werth (RF)/ Dobbs (LF)/ Feliz (3B) /Ruiz (C)/ Moyer (P)

Your Gameday Beer: Kalik. This is the King of Beers in the Bahamas. The brew was designed by Heineken for the Commonwealth Brewery based on the tastes of the islanders. As you can imagine, it has all the qualities of an ice-cold Bud or Corona – fizzy, yellow, and way too easy to drink on a hot summer day. Fortunately you can find the beer in America and even at some supermarkets. Make some fancy mac-n-cheese with ham or bacon in it. -By Brian

With all the trade rumors flying around about Roy Haliday possibly winding up with the Phils, I noticed he lost just for the third time this year to the Rays today, 3-2. Scotty Rolen was not in the Rays lineup.

Yea, the minute he walked out with the Vote for Shane board, I immediately forgave him for all his starting pitching woes.

A couple of players for Toronto, Millar and Wells, left 11 runners on base today against Tampa Bay. Yeh, Brian of CO, Haliday pitched well enough to win. Pena had the big hit against him. Not much run support today for the fine effort by Haliday.

Lidges biggest problem this season I think has been trying to play through his injury. We was fine, then her “nearly blew out his knee, and got inserts for his shoes”. Once that happened he sucked.

has Dobbs become the defacto spokeperson for the players, I keep hearing him interviewed which isn’t that bad because he speaks well… actually he sounds like he’s running for office. i could see him in the upper managament of some MLB club.

The good thing is, Florida is also down 3-0 in the 3rd. Lets hope for a loss there as well. but Braves are winning 5-4 in the 6th.

Thats why wins are a fake stat for pitchers. Jamie Moyer has tons of those wins. Where he gives up 4,5,6 runs and still gets the win. Thats TRASH! Thats some phony baloney mumbo jumbo BS!

Giving up 4 runs and getting a win is still workable though, 5 is a bit much, 6 or more is “trash”.

Saw this stat about Moyer not sure how true it is…

“In Moyer’s last 9 starts not including this one he has an ERA of 4.14 and in his first 7 starts he had an ERA of 8.15. He started slowly but has come on as of late so everyone needs to back off and remember its just one bad start.”
