Well andrew,virtual lock on Delgado that he’s gone,Beltran has 2 more years coming on his 7 year deal,Manuel I really can’t blame him because of the deluge of injuries and the scrubs,schlubs and furniture movers he has on the field,bench and bullpen…..as for Minaya,his 3 year kicks in 2010 and probably has a picture of Fred Wilpon in a “Compromising Situation” so bottom line Delgado GONE,Manuel 50/50 Beltran til 2011 and Minaya stays.

When the mets lose their coach and GM and Beltout and delgado. They will be on my radar. Until that happens i do not consider them a threat in any way.

Bastardo can be the MLB ready pitcher.
Package Drabek up already and quit whining. Cant miss prospects all get their bumps and bruises before settling in (i.e. Hamels, Lester, Chamberlain) if they pan out at all. Halladay is top of the line. The Yanks could have had Santana, now they have Philip F$*$ing mopping up messes in the ‘pen.
Bottom line is we have two former MVPs, a MVP in the wings, a free agent having an MVP-type season, PLUS two All-stars. That doesn’t EVER happen. All the other pieces are here and you guys want to wait on Kyle Drabek?

You are right Mazin in anything can happen and I know it only too well lol….Mets spit the bit in 07 and the Phils won correct.Who would have thunk it that this Mets team would be so ridled with injuries to key players and players like Wright have nobody to protect him in the line-up.Makes me look forward to 2010 and a fresh start with HEALTHY players and losing high payroll players like Delgado and Wagner.Now I am not annointing anyone the NL East and its still anybodys Division (Nats are done)

Grrumpy, what I meant to say is that it would make them as sure as thing as it is possible to say. Baseball is unpredictable and anything can happen but I do think that getting Halladay makes the Phils the best team in the NL.

Nothing is a sure thing…the Dodgers aren’t exactly a slouch team full of scrubs and question marks,and the NL West is pretty competitive.Plus last I checked you have a manager out there I think won 4 World Championships last I checked.I am not counting the Phils out,I do tip my Mets cap to them but the Dodgers deserve some respect too.

Everyone is hungry for this trade because we can sense what will follow it. Baseball is an unpredicatable game so its hard to say anything is a sure thing but getting Halladay makes is as sure a thing to return to the World Series as possible.

Alot of people keep talking about Halladay and how he is 0-3 in the last 3 starts. Can you really go by that? Especially after looking at the last start, he only gave up 3 runs. That is a quality start, and if giving up 3 runs is a poor outing for him, SIGN THE GUY. We keep talking about prospects. We can give up a few prospects which really have NO IDEA what they can do, or get Halladay and know EXACTLY what you are getting, a QUALITY starter, with a MUCH higher chance of repeating, not to mention, wouldnt we have him through the rest of this season AND NEXT?

Halladay is a special kind of talent that is still relatively young. You cannot get more consistant that he is and having the duo of Halladay and Hamels in the playoffs is just devestating. Not only that but, worse case scenario, if we fail to resign him we get some first round draft picks back for him so he helps restock our system.

I like Happ a lot but Halladay is a truly elite pitcher. Thats not the kind of thing you turn down if you can get him.

Happ is a high 80′s fastball guy… he locates well, mixes speeds and has a workable curve. The ceiling is kind of limited, isn’t it?

The difference is not the performance of the other pitchers, it’s the fact that Brett Myers is injured, leaving us without a #2. In a postseason series, we won’t survive without a #2.

We can still scrap to win the NL East but we might as well forget about defending (if we go with what we’ve got). We can keep our prospects and pick up a FA after this season and go for it next year… I would rather trade Happ and a couple of decent prospects for Halladay and go get it this year and next.

As much as I want Halladay to be a part of this team, getting rid of Happ would be a big mistake. He’s been the Phillies’ most consistent starter of the season, and if the other guys pitched as well as Happ has, we wouldn’t be in the market for Halladay in the first place.

He’s definitely an upgrade, but think of the other talent the Phils could bring in with the $15,000,000 difference in salary.
