Phillies scouts will be the judge when they take a long hard look at Pedro Martinez. His fastball may no longer have the same zip but maintain his other quality pitches in his repertoire. Like Jamie Moyer, his great success comes from guile and experience in keeping batters off balance.

Scott,what does that mean? How does him working for the post(which is a terrible paper,I agree) mean he doesn’t pick the good NY team to root for. Also, sports are not about being a fair-weather fan, so winning has nothing to do with being a fan. Also, He put Oliver Perez number 2 behind Lidge. So he shit on the Mets too.

Just read NY Post Columnist Joel Sherman’s mid season hardball awards. Of course you can tell he isn’t a fan of the Phillies. For him Rollins is anti-NL MVP, Lidge is anti-NL Cy Young (with Moyer 3rd behind lidge and oliver perez) and Raul Ibanez isn’t even on the top 5 of best offseason addition.

Geoff – The Blue Jays are probably winning nothing anytime soon with the Yankees, Devil Rays, and Boston competing for one division title and one, possible two, wildcard spots. The Blue Jays cannot win as presently constituted. Sooooooo…..I guess that means they take a shot in free agency in the off season to try and vastly improve or start to retool for 2010 and beyond. If they feel they wanna try and stockpile some GREAT young talent, well, I guess the Phils would be right in there as far as trade partners are concerned.

I agree the Jays won’t be moving Halladay. With what their team has shown this year and the pitchers that will be healthy for next year, they will be a legitimate playoff contender in 2010.

Not enough. You would hgave to include a major league roster player like Jayson Werth or Shane Victorino plus your 3 best prospects. The Phillies cant really afford that.

They have said that Drabek and Taylor arent available for ANYBODY – and I agree.

This is the SAME situation as Dan Haren except the team is LESS likely to deal him. Again, WHY would you trade Roy Halladay IF YOUR TRYING TO WIN IN 2010? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY? This is not happening.

Coste isn’t going to be a catcher forever, and Gosewisch – not impressed. I wouldn’t be so quick to throw away catchers like that. But do what you have to do.

Reports are surfacing that the Blue Jays “may” listen on Halladay if the offer is right. Would Drabek, Taylor, Marson, and Savery get it done? To much? Not enough?
