Florida Marlins (57-53)
at Philadelphia Phillies (61-47)
Josh Johnson (10-2) vs. Jamie Moyer (10-8, 5.55 ERA)
Time: 1:35 p.m at Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Rain, 81
TV: MY PHL 17
Twitter: Phillies Nation
The Phillies need to avoid the sweep against the Florida Marlins. A loss would cut their lead in the division to just four games.
The offense has struggled, especially with runners in scoring position. It will not be an easy task against Josh Johnson. In his last start, Johnson had one bad inning against the Washington Nationals. He gave up four consecutive hits before recording an out and the Marlins ended up losing. Overall he has a 3.66 career ERA against the Phillies.
The Phillies have their fisherman, Jamie Moyer on the mound. Moyer pitched seven shutout innings against the Fish in July. While the rotation and Moyer’s future remains up in the air, Moyer is 13-2 with a 2.83 ERA against the Marlins in his career.

Your Gameday Beer- Old Dominion Beach House Golden Pilsner
We’re back in America for tonight’s beer, Dover, Delaware to be precise. It’s the perfect ending to a tour of European brews. It’s a Czech-style Pilsner that’s perfect for summer – hoppy, earthy character with citrus notes. Some fresh sushi goes well with this one. – By Brian

I call out everyone. The people running this site when they’re obviously wrong, the racists posters, the bashers and the players as well as Charlie. Why? Because I’m honest and I’m not afraid of the back lash like you are Mr. Edward.

I am not afraid of back lash Repeat but when I am wrong I will apologize and when I am being wronged I will defend myself. I believe these boards are for people to discuss the Phillies not so people can carry out their personal vendetta’s those that did no wrong. You have called me a racist which I do not take lightly, I have asked you more than once to show me exactly what I said that would be considered racist and so far, you have yet to do so. I would suspect that its because you are simply talking out your a$$ and have no real proof of anything, but since you made the claims I will let you defend them.
More than once you have not just verbalized your displeasure with Charlie Manuel but you have done so in a way in which you attack his character, his way of speech, you basically make fun of him for having a southern draw…that’s not racist? What is it exactly?
There is nothing to change because as I said earlier, you have yet to point out even one instance where I made a racist remark. Until you do you are doing nothing more than ranting about something completely unfounded.
I can appreciate honesty, if you knew me, you would know that I am one of the most honest people you will find, sometimes to a fault and I can accept that, I would rather be honest and hated than a liar and loved. Usually people that find the need to point out everyone else’s flaw’s are usually the very same people that have issues with themselves but are either too afraid or unwilling to deal with them.

Repeat! Shut the f*ck up. You’re act is about as tiring as anything I have ever seen. Ever notice that no one comments on anything you say, relevant or not because no one here wants to be bothered with you? You are as bad as a troll. You act like a tough guy because you are probably a little punk in real life. You can make outrageous claims that what you say and do is in the name of fairness and honesty but it isn’t. Not when you make claims without any justification like you have. Seriously, go away.

Thanks DJ. Believe me, i’d love nothing more to be done with this whole thing. I thought we were and then I am called out again for absolutely no reason. I don’t enjoy any of this. But I will try and take your advice. Thanks

I give up. It’s pretty hard to defend yourself when its something like an internet blog. One persons word against the other. Oh well i guess.

“The Marlins didn’t make a statement.”
Oh really? A team with a $37 million payroll comes into Philly and sweeps the defending World Champions ($115 million payroll). That’s not making a statement???

No the Marlins did not “make a statement”. You know why? Because they were 7 games back coming into the weekend and now are 4. The same crap was said when Atlanta beat us the first game of the season “the Braves made a statement in the NL East”.
Did they play good baseball? Absolutely. They pitched, moved runners and did everything the Phils did not. Credit to them.
This is still the Phillies division to lose. Division play tends to balance out, we weren’t going to keep dominating Florida and I have a feeling the Phils will be a little better in Atlanta this weekend.

I’d call a series in August (where the Phillies had a chance to put the Marlins away and instead were made to look silly) a lot more significant than a game in April. The Phillies leadoff hitter has an OBP under .300, their leftfielder looks like he’s out of gas, and their closer looks like a batting practice pitcher (yes, even in save situations). Time and time again they’ve shown that they can be easily shut down by good pitching. They’re struggling to even play .500 at home. You take away their 10-2 record against Washington and they have a very ordinary season record.
As they proved last year, a big September can erase a lot of bad memories. I’m not sure we can count on a run like that every season though…
