Philadelphia Phillies (59-43) at San Francisco Giants (57-47)
Cole Hamels (7-5, 4.42 ERA) vs. Barry Zito (6-10, 4.54 ERA)
Time: 4:05 p.m at AT&T Park
Weather: Partly Cloudy, 66
TV: MYPHL 17/ TBS
Twitter: Phillies Nation
The Phillies will try to even the series in the four game finale. The Phillies will send Cole Hamels to the mound, who has shown that he is a second half pitcher.
In his past five starts, Hamels is 3-0 with a 2.45 earned run average. In addition, he has thrown at least seven innings in two consecutive outings. It is very key for Hamels to go deep into a game, something the Phillies starters have been doing a lot lately.
Hamels will be opposed by Barry Zito, who has had an up and down year. There is no doubt that Zito is not the same pitcher he was in 2002 when he won the American League Cy Young award with the Oakland Athletics. He never lived up to his expectations when he signed a seven year, $126 million contract with the Giants in 2006. Zito is 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA in his career against the Phillies.
The Phillies need to start hitting with runners in scoring position. On the road trip, the Phils are hitting .103 (6-for-56) with RISP.

Your Gameday Beer- Gambrinus Premium
This beer, popular in the Czech Republic, and is named in honor of the king of Flanders. He is unofficially known as the patron saint (or dare I say, King) of beers. The beer however is a little less dramatic. The well-balanced light pilsner pours a rich head with a full golden color. It’s good enough to drink all night, maybe with some Chinese food. – By Brian

Eli….. Why are u afraid of the wind? Your D won that Game. And Plax was wide open. Although nice spin move. But u got lucky that Sam didn’t pick that pass off and take it to the house. The Yanks can’t beat Boston and the Mets are scared of their own *ucking farm staff. Nearly 2 billion spent on two 2 stadiums for 2 losers.

Maybe if the Phillies beat the Giants in Philly in September, they will help keep the Giants from making the playoffs. The key for the Giants will be how they play on the road from here on out and away from their home ballpark which is a big advantage for them and their pitching staff. They have one of the best records at home but one of the worst on the road, 21-31, and the worst road record of all the teams in the playoff hunt. Might have the best pitching of all of those teams but probably the weakest offense too. Will really have to rely on their pitching.

Brandi… I did play soccer in high school. Scored 1 freakin goal in 2yrs of playing mid-fielder/L-Wing. I know…. Pathetic….. But the mental scares remain. So be nice. Thanks for the invite, but no San Fran for me.

Howard is definitely the choice for the Jeltz today with Hamels coming in a close second with his poor outing today and giving up a hit to the pitcher which got the ball rolling for the Giants. Power outage week for the Phillies this past week but will have to turn it around for the hard hitting Rockies and Marlins coming to CBP this week.
