Welcome to the Phillies Nation Podcast!

Joining Pat Gallen on the podcast today is the beat writer for the Phillies from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Andy Martino.  Pat and Andy talk about news regarding J.A. Happ, the injured bullpen arms, Pedro’s performance, and what to do about the closers.

Andy is in his first season on the Phillies beat. A former New York City public school teacher and graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, he previously wrote for the New York Daily News, where he covered baseball and worked with the award-winning investigative sports “I-team.”

Wow… Andy Martino couldn’t sound more pessimistic. I hope that’s not a true indication of the feeling inside the clubhouse. I have a feeling that his gut feeling is more in-line with the pulse of the fan (than the team).

Chuck: I dont think he sounded overly pessimistic. His job is to stay on the fence and not really take sides. He sounded like a journalist to me.
