Happ probably could have held him off without the injury problems at the end of the year but Coghlan had more hits after the all star break than anyone in baseball, and I don't think it was really that close. Some sports writers might just want to "spread the wealth" considering they are WS Champs, the most amount of All Stars in the Majors, 3 straight NL East champs, and the other honors mentioned above.
