The Phillies signed DeWayne Wise and Wilson Valdez to minor league contracts. Both had a significant amount of major league playing time in 2009, but they will most likely spend most of 2010 in Triple-A.
Wise, an outfielder, is known for saving Mark Buehrle’s perfect game in July. The 32-year old spent most of the season as a defensive replacement. He batted .225 in 142 at-bats with the White Sox in 2009.
Valdez, a utility infielder, batted .256 in 86 at-bats for the New York Mets in 2009.

This is amazing. Is Ruben Jr. breaking in a new fountain pen and practicing signing people up, or what. Do we need these two on the minor league level, just in case. Probably we do.

You can’t have too many minor leaguers with major league experience. Last year, the Phils signed Cairo, Bako, and Rodrigo Lopez, who all played a role on the big club. These are good signings, and I hope more are coming.

nice to see them re-sign andy tracy. even if he’s stuck back at the ironpigs, he’s quite the fan favorite.

Rusty, nobody has made a major signing yet. These are made to stock up the minor leagues for depth.
