2009 was a great season for my Phigten Phils, eventhough we didnt will the fall classic like in 2008, I have never been so proud to stand by my team. Same nucleus in 2010, with a chip on our shoulder= RIP all other 29 teams.

Nice Amanda…PN is a fun site for this out-of-towner… I can’t wait for next season!

As for the comment above about playing in the weaker NL.., I don’t necisarily feel that way..I just think for a series like the WS, the NL will always be in a weaker position because the NL teams don’t have to staff a designated hitter all year…you can’t just automatically turn your pinch-hitter/bench person into a star DH for one series..

The league that the Phillies played in did not hurt them. They just did not play well enough to beat a great team. It’s a little consolation for me that the Phillies while not playing their best took a great team to 6 games. They just ran out of gas and a couple shortcomings hurt them.

I give props to the Yankees and thank the classy Yankee fans that have come over to give up props. These teams were damn close to even and I hope get another shot at them soon.

Phillies are a great team. I think playing in the much weaker National league hurt them. They need to play and develop the roster as if they were playing in the American League East if they want to compete. The Yankees were much better winning 4 games to 2

The Phillies never had a 100 year drought that is Chicago!

We won in 80 as well and will be in it to win it next year.

I think it will be even harder for the Yankees to repeat next year than it was for the Phillies to do it this year, We are much younger and have a better pharm system. Jeter, Petitte, Riveria all get another year older! I am sure they will put up a good fight enjoy

As a Yankee fan, while Im overjoyed of course Im surprised the Yankees had it so easy. There wasnt a moment in the series I was really sweating. Despite pre series media hype the Phillies either didnt play well or were just overated. It just seemed like we dominated you guys from the get go. If you didnt have Lee, you probably would have been swept. Tha gap between the AL and NL is so immense though so it doesnt surprise me. Yankees#1..

Great article Amanda. I agree. I wouldn’t trade the last two years and this team for 27 rings. I have been a fan since I was born, but truly started following them at the age of 15 when Scott Rolen became a fixture. I watched all the lows and had some highs, but this team makes all the bad years worth it. Thank you Phillies! And all the Phans. Spring training is soooo far away!
