Happ was insanely lucky with his BA with runners in scoring position in 2009, but his ERA was superficially good.

McCutcheon and Hanson will both be stars but the voters may give it to a Happ or Coghlan.

I used to care a lot more about awards when the Phils were bad, but now I only care about winning titles.

Don’t they vote on these awards BEFORE the post-season? That’s why Lou Piniella got the award last year (not Charlie).. etc

I don’t think that postseason matters… even though Happ did fan 3 straight Yankees in a row in the last game.

Happ all the way! Lost the competition for 5th starter, gained the spot when Park slipped, relegated to the pen, trade rumors. All the while he kept a very professional attitude. What more could a team ask of a rookie?

I hope that Happ wins it but I bet that Coghlan will be selected. Happ did not have a great September and post season because of injury and therefore did not finish the year off strong which, of course, is no fault of his own. Will depend on how all this is looked at in comparison to the statistics his earlier great season.

I understand the respect Coghlan is getting, but do not understand the hype with any of the other players besides Happ. Check out ESPN’s article, they don’t even consider Happ???

I think Happ will be an outstanding pitcher for the Phils if they keep him. As great as Halladay is, he is getting “long of tooth.” Hopefully Happ wins the award.

I like Happ to squeak by Hanson and Coghlan for the award (especially given the extra bonus of being on a team that advanced to the World Series). Then, I like him to be packaged with a few other pieces to bring us Halladay. Yeah, I know, it’s probably a pipe dream.
