I didn’t read the article but on a site called Ball Hype (go there if you dare. If you do and your PC is suddenly bogged down and the page s taking an inordinate amount of time load, abandon ship (cltr+del+alt), end task …some type of malwhere, fake AV trojan trying to smurf your PC). Anyway the article’s title suggested that Eyre was totally broke. That is as much as I could make before the site shinnanegans prompted my quick exit.

I hear the Yankees are more interested in Eyre than the Phillies are. After dealing Phil Coke, I see why.

Eyre has gone on record as saying he was ready to retire prior to last season and the Phillies were just about the only team he would play for – I can’t understand what is going on.

It is reported that the Phils offered Scott Eyre a minor league contract, according to MLB.Rumors.com. Frankly, if I were Scott Eyre, I would turn it down, just as he did. He is worth more than that. Seems like it is somewhat of an insult, like the Phils saying:” we don’t really need you but if you want to pitch for us we could use the help in the Lehigh Valley.” Eyre will be 39 in the spring. He has made over $17 million. I think he will be ok financially. Too damn bad if he isn’t.
