Honestly, I am expecting Raul to be gone before Shane…but I guess it really depends on how much he asks for, and how much the Phillies are willing to give him. Shane is a great player though, and it’d suck to see him go.

Vic is a likeable guy with a lot of energy, and was a bargain last year at just over $3Mil. He is also playing at a time when there are few true centerfielders (Sizemore, Kemp, Beltre when healthy). Gillick did a great job picking him up. But……….
He is still very raw, and not a heady baseball player. Many of his web gem catches are a result of corrections of initial bad reads or bad lines to the ball. His natural spot in the order is probably leadoff (decent ob%), but his situational hitting is terrible, and plate discipline has a tendency to lapse. The six hole should suit him well as long as he doesn’t try to hit homers. While his year to year BA is consistent, he is extremely streaky during the season, especially when he goes into power hitting mode. When he’s forced to move to the other side of the plate during a game, he’s an easy out. He’s tough, his aggressive play is entertaininig, but it means he’s going to miss 15-25 starts/year with a variety of bumps and bruises. His stealing percentage is somewhere around 75% – way too low for his speed. He needs to spend more time with Lopes on reading pitchers and getting a good jump.
He’s already had hamstring issues, I expect them to get worse as he gets older. If based on value vs pay, I agree with the rating, but wouldn’t give him the big contract in 2012.

Hoping thats not the case, but it seems certain that either Victorino or Werth has to go. I’m sure they dont want to break this up, because it could be something special.

God, I’m gonna miss this team when they all leave. I love every single on of these guys (Minus Cole Hamels, but I don’t want him to leave)

Shane is one of the best centerfielder’s the Phillies ever had.
He has everything, speed, hitting, arm, and personality.
If the Phillies lose him they lose a lot so they better step up and do whatever it takes to keep him here.
He’s my favorite player ever and he wears my favorite number!

Shawn, Shane is all that and a bag of chips but comparing him to Dykstra?
Shane I think is all around better – defensively, speed, I’m sure if he got juiced up like Lenny did he might show some more power too = )
They are both tough but Shane is pleasant!

Shane Victorino is Lenny Dykstra with a strong strain of decency and likeability. I hope he stays a Phillie. He knows how to hustle, and has a much better arm than Lenny. Shane is a deserving all-star and a golden glover. A genuine asset to the Phightins

Shane is an undervalued center fielder. He has good speed and a great fielder. His only weakness is a reluctance to be patient at the plate.
