I wanted to let you know that I have been watching for a few days and I would like to sign up for the rss feed. Regrettably, I am not to computer smart so I’ll give it a try but I might need some help. This is a great find and I would hate to lose contact, and maybe never find it again.

I would trade Howard and Hamels for Pujols and a frist round draft choice. Howard gets to play with his hometown team. The Philles get rid of Homerun Hamels who is and will be nothing but problems in the future. Pujols is about six months younger that it nake that much difference. But the big thing is Pujols’s life time Batting ave, slugging percent and on base percentge are all better than Howards. Pujols adds right handed hitting to The Phillies line. Either way both clubs are looking at big salary increase for Hhoward Pujols and Hamels. The phillies could pay Pujols his big bucks and save money because they for gotten rid of homerun Hamels. The cards with howard would be paying big money to a hometwon boy. But some of the big bucks being paid to Howard maybe could be made up by increased tacket sales that would happen because of fans coming to see a Hometown Hero.

Besides all of this we Would not have to watch Pujols strike out as much as Howard which means By Pujols puting the ball in paly more there their is more chance he will make something postive happen rather than going down swinging as like Howard does.

Their is also a chance the If the Phillies get Pujols we could finely see a triple crown winner in Philadelphila I like Howard and what ever happens I wish him the best of Luck.

I wouldn’t be surprised if those four elite first basemen becomes one elite first basemen by the end of 2011. Pujols and Fielder may still sign extensions, and Gonzales will be traded and possibly get a huge extension with a better club, probably Boston.

That leaves only Howard. He might really cost a lot then!

Pujols or Gonzalez I wonder which one of them sets the market? Boston will be hot after either one of those i really believe, and the mets too will be in there on all four of those guys, cubs rangers and angels have to be in on it too, could be near a record for a player if alex gonzalez gets 25 pujois is worth more in my opinion

Howard and Werth for pujols

Dom brown plays right field, were fine. and can resign pujols and not worry about having an utley-howard-werth type of lineup next year. That type of deal shouldnt send ST. Louis into revolt, and id be happy with it as well.

I agree Chuck. I wouldn’t mind Gonzalez in Philly if it was a cheaper option than Howard. The 2011 playoff run will determine a lot. Those teams out of it will like the Padres will trade their guy for prospects. probably the same for the Brewers as well.

And, yeah, maybe turn the focus to Werth if possible. Problem is….will HE also want ridiculous money?? I’m glad Brown is having a good Spring….even if it is just S.T.

Again, though…..at least with the first basemen that are hitting the market in 2012…..as I said earlier….SUPPLY AND DEMAND. That’s a lot of premiere first basemen (4) coming on the market at once. Teams will have some leverage I would think.

Thanks for responding Don M., I definitely get your point, and the bottom line is, of course, there is no right or wrong answer because you can’t forsee the future, there’re just maybe better or worse moves given one’s goal, and “going all out” when you’ve got your best shot is just one goal. I actually was just wondering why you thought a recent WS win should change that philosophy. If I had a choice, I’d rather win one more time and go back to having a decent chance to get to the post-season and continue to rebuild, than get into the post-season, even deep, and lose for the next 2 or 3 years. But that’s just me.

While we’re killing time on this thread, I heard Lee got ejected after a bench-clearing incident in the 3rd inning at the D-backs spring training game yesterday, after allegedly throwing at batter Chris Snyder, the Arizona catcher who knocked him down in the 1st inning at a play at the plate. Gettin’ into it early. Lee said the pitches got away from him. Sure.

And OMG, please not Howard to the Mets, mikemike! :)

One thing I keep hearing is howards father wants 25 million and up a year, no discount he is advising his son. I really don’t know if the phillies will give him that kind of money for any length of time. I think they would do a three year deal at howard age with a 4th year option, but i believe howard camp looking for 7 or 8 at 25 million a year. just my opinion hope i am wrong.

This was really just “tire-kicking”. That’s it. Teams do this all the time….ask about this player or that player.

Can we just let this rest now? There are far more important things to worry about.
