The Philadelphia Phillies will face Florida State University in an exhibition game at 7:05 p.m. J.A Happ, Phillipe Aumont, Drew Naylor, Yohan Flande, Joe Savery, Jesus Sanchez, and David Herdon will each pitch in tonight’s game against the Seminoles.
The Phillies last played Florida State in 2007, and roughed them up, 12-4.
This year, Florida State’s baseball team is ranked second in the country. It will be interesting to see how Aumont and other players do, however, keep an eye on college players such as Staurt Tapley and Tyler Holt. Some of these players could potentially be a Major League draft pick in the future.

Tim Linecum gave up 3 runs tonight. I wouldn’t be too upset.

Gotta agree with you Amanda. I think our first spring training game is a little early to give up on Gillies & Aumont. Let’s see what a year a Triple A does for em.
Nice to see Happ get off to a decent start though.

I couldn’t care less right now if we were down by 10 runs though I’m just loving listening to baseball again. It feels like the offseason took forever.

It’s official Tim Lincecum sucks, and will never EVER be a good MLB pitcher again. He gave up 3 FREAKING RUNS. That’s unbelievable. He’s gonna suck
(sarcasm of course)
Really, the first day of spring training and you’re already declaring Aumont horrible? Really?

Might as well say Jayson Werth, Polocno, and Howard all suck because they’ve all got no hits today.

If Tim Lincecum, one of Baseball’s best pitchers can give up 3 runs to some college team tonight, why can’t Aumont?
This is only spring freaking break, and the guys are still warming up.
Not to mention that Aumont isn’t even in the Majors yet, so give the kid a break.

All I was saying was those two Lee prospects were looking bad *tonight*. Small sample and spring training understood.
In happier news, nice numbers from Naylor and Brown.

I have to say some of you start off early, jumped in here before I leave work, and somebody already is declaring a 20-21 year old pitcher washed up, and worthless. Some of you fans never cease to amaze me. It is just nice to baseball starting again. April 12th home opener can not get here soon enough for me. It is freakin cold here in Vermont. But I will see you all when the real season begins in Philly, and hope all of you that can go have a great trip to D C

Just check out the box score, and it appears to me Aumont had little control problem. That is what the issue he needs to work on, I think he will get it.

I wouldn’t worry Shag, most of us aren’t panicking. I know what you mean though I’ve been dying for baseball. I’m headed to opening day at washington with my old man, and my brothers. Can’t wait.

Hmm, the Giants should probably cut Lincecum, he sucked tonight. 3 ER in 2 innings, he’s got to go. If I were them, I’d cut them completely, hire Eric Bruntlett and convert him to a pitcher.
As for the Phillies, Aumont has to go. He was dreadful. We should go cry to Seattle and see if we can get Lee back.
I hate “fans” who know nothing of baseball. The kid’s a Double-A pitcher, and the Seminoles are a great College team, on par with High-A division teams.
How can one judge another after less than one inning?
Aumont’s got hot stuff. The guy’s a brute, and with enough practice, he will be very valuable to the Phillies in the future.
Needless to say, it’s great that baseball season returned :D
