You gotta give Paul Boyle a lot of credit for courage and intestinal fortitude. This man is an objective reporter and analyst. I know of nobody who expects the Rockies to win the National League. I appreciate the “out-of-the-box” thinking. Although I respectfully disagree.

Some interesting picks.
I think Kemp is overrated,
Phils/Twins WS, thats my pick
little out of the box, not picking a winner right now

Seems almost everyone on staff here expects the Phillies to lose the World Series, assuming they even make it there.
Although I know it’s all just opinions and predictions, I am hoping that you all are seriously rooting for the Phillies to win it all this year.
To be perfectly honest, I would rather have the Phillies miss the World Series this year, than to make it and lose to the Yankees.
Last year was bad enough, but I am FREAKING TIRED of Yankees fans rubbing it in.
So either the Phillies make it and WIN, or they shouldn’t even bother.

Win or not, making the World Series is a major accomplishment. It means the Phils will be the best in the National League. Let’s not let the Yankees intimidate us.

I am not intimidated by the Yankees, but I CANNOT STAND most of their fans constantly rubbing in how great they are. Honestly I felt the Phillies could have beaten the Yankees LAST YEAR if everyone was performing up to their usual standards. You may think i’m nuts for saying this, but the 2008 Phillies could have beaten the 2009 Yankees. Know why? Because our offense showed up more that year, and Hamels and Lidge were having the best years of their respective careers. Assuming that Hamels rebounds as much as we all hope and that Lidge doesn’t completely suck, and if Ryan and most of the other big hitters show up, we could take the Yankees down this year. We do not need Lee to win the World Series, but Hamels and Lidge have to rebound, and our offense has to hit the Yankees hard. Wanna talk about overrated pitching rotations? Why don’t we all take a look at New Yorks rotation. They have CC Sabathia(who doesn’t scare the Phillies), and 4 other guys who are either aging(Andy) or nothing special. Every one of the Yankees 5 starters we CAN hit, but only if everyone besides Utley remembers to show up.

Anyone else see chopper give up 2 runs for the Yanks? He’s not looking sharp to start the year.

Evan: I would wait a little bit before saying Chan Ho is going to be a bust for the Yankees this year.
Not to mention our own bullpen has quite a few question marks.

I agree with those who predict that the division winners are Phillies, Cards and Rockies, with the Braves as the wild card and the Phils with the best overall record. I would prefer the Dodgers as the WC, though, since that would give the Phils an easier path to the WS.
Utley, Halladay and Heyward are the big individual prize winners.

I’m in no rush to declare Chan Ho a bust, just saying he’s not starting the year the way he ended last year.

If Chan Ho does suck this year, it will make the Phillies look better for not trying harder to bring him back.
Regardless though, we all better hope that this years Phillies Bullpen is a lot better than last years.

A) *Greg: Buster Olney is picking the Rockies to win the WS.
B) I want to see the AL projections, because without them I can’t tell if these people are just picking numbers out of their head and most likely making projections that don’t add up to 2430 wins.

I don’t think the Rockies will be as good as everyone has been saying. They always seem to start off very slow then work on playing catch up which will be harder this year because the likes of the Braves, Dodgers, and Giants should be right there with them. If they want the division they will have to play good from day one.
I’d still like to see a Phillies-Yankees rematch and get some payback. The interesting thing is that my friends who are Yankees fans have all told me the same thing. There is a better chance of the Phillies making it back than the Yankees. Weird that they should be so unanimous about that.

Ryan,
You’ll find issues with fine, then, because I tweaked a couple things between the A.L. posts and this one. It happens. Doesn’t mean I can’t add or just picked numbers from thin air.
I’m sure that’s the case with my co-writers as well, if discrepancies exist.
