Florida Marlins (6-4) at Philadelphia Phillies (7-2)
Anibal Sanchez (0-0, 6.00) vs. Roy Halladay (2-0, 0.56)
Time: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Scattered Thunderstorms, 68 degrees
TV: CSN Philly

Having a five game winning streak snapped yesterday, the Phillies look to start another as they take on division foe, the Marlins. In what will likely be the Phillies first true test of their team this season, the Phillies potent offense will see where they stand against decent pitching.
Oh, and a guy named Roy Halladay makes his Citizens Bank Park debut.
The moment we have been waiting for since December is finally here. Halladay comes home to Philly with a 2-0 record and a minuscule 0.56 ERA. In his first two starts, he has dominated hitters and notched a complete game against Houston. Although he is 0-1 with a 5.00 ERA against the Marlins in his career, there is no reason to think that Halladay won’t dazzle the hometown crowd.
Anibal Sanchez enters the game 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA. In his last start against the Dodgers, he pitched well despite getting tagged for four runs in the fourth inning. For his career, Sanchez has not fared well against the Phils, going 2-4 with a 5.40 ERA.
The Phillies bats struggled against lefty Scott Olsen in yesterday’s game, so seeing the right-handed Sanchez will be a nice break. Shane Victorino and chase Utley both have homers in consecutive games and the offense continues to click despite Raul Ibanez’s struggles.
Your Gameday Beer: Flying Fish Brewery’s Hopfish India Pale Ale
A citrusy pale ale, with a combination of American, German, and English malts, this bitter brew is balanced with a malty sweetness. Hopfish comes from local brewers, Flying Fish Brewing Company, located across the river from Philadelphia, in Cherry Hill, NJ. Try pairing it with fish, like a tilapia or Chilean sea-bass, I guess. – By Jason

Don’t you mean ROID-UUUUUUUUL! How does a guy that is completly healthy suddenly forget how to hit. What happened to his bat speed? He is unable to catch up to 90mph fastballs on a regular bases. Yes he just missed his 1st hr over the weekend. But he doesn’t even hit the baseball hard anymore. His feable ground outs to 2nd base and shallow pop flys are getting old real quick. There were roid rumors about Ibanez in the past. Most noticeably shortly after he went on the DL last year. He denied them of course. But then again who wouldn’t. I pray to God that I’m wrong here. I really do. But what other logical conclusion could any reasonable fan come to. Please Ibanez get your bleep together. You are one more bad half away from being a bust. Pat the bat had his flaws that’s for sure… I know his stats haven’t been great in Tampa, but I think that he would’ve performed a lot better in a Phillies uni. Of course it’s bs to try and be a post-trade genius. Just saying. How close are Dominic Brown and Mayberry to being ready to become everyday players?? Ben Fran doesn’t seem capable to fitting the bill.

No Raul was not on “roids” last year, and Raul went as far as saying you can test him ANY WAY you want, and he’d pay back every last cent he made in his career, if he tested positive for ANYTHING.
And you know what? I believe him, even though he’s been rather slow so far this season. He had a few good games already, so it’s far too soon to panic. Should he slump for months non-stop, THEN it may be time to start worrying a bit.
Can’t believe how quick people are to give up on Raul, and I DON’T CARE he’s in his late 30′s. that’s still no reason to reach any premature conclusions.

Also, I would take Francisco as an every day player over Mayberry who seems to be a Quad-A/5th outfielder at best, and is unlikely to get that much better.
Maybe he could emerge as a really late bloomer, but I think it’s unlikely.

You can’t really criticize any part of the offense when as a unit their pretty much tearing the cover off the ball, there’s only so much to go around and as some guys fall off others will pick their game up. We’ve been spoiled with the success of signing and now were likely to see the career Ibanez who’s a good hardworking player for the most part… (but that won’t be good enough for some fans)

Mayberry’s looking far from being an everyday guy right now unless he’s facing pitchers with only fastballs. Calling for Brown (or Aumont or pretty much any high ceiling prospect) is counter-productive, just cause some teams bring their kids up to the point of being free agents by the age of 25 doesn’t mean the Phils should. Brown’s gonna be an impact player if he’s brought up with the right development, early he’ll just be a disappointment.

I’m not giving up on him WFC… Trust me… That’s why I said i’m hoping its no roids. But don’t be naive about the “you can test me anytime you want” routine. They all say that. Again I hope that I’m dead wrong on this issue.

.. I am wrong on the Ben-fran issue… You’re right he of course is the most ready to being a regular. I mentioned D. Brown because I’m a little envious on what Heyward is doing for the Braves.

A 4th outfielder now seems to be expected by fans as a guy who can come in when a guy goes down and have multi-hit games, hit 20 homers and steal bases…
Francisco right one is one of the top 4th outfielders because given a full season last year showed he can hit and steal in double-digits and maintain a reasonable average. You don’t above average starting outfielders on the bench unless their their because of salary and name.
Problem is Werth goes down and it’s expected that Franky’s going to do something special in one of those games he starts.

Heyward is a freak like Lincecum who didn’t need much time in the minors… Look how long it took King Felix to get thought of as more than a prospect. Can’t even think of Brown yet.

I didn’t say Francisco SHOULD be a regular, just that i’d pick him as a regular over Mayberry if those were our only 2 available options.
But look, I don’t want to get into that whole Ibanez/Werth thing again, and i’d rather not think about it for a while if possible.

Ibanez’s average is low but his OBP’s over 100pts higher so it’s not as bad as it seems

It’s nice to see the Phils playing like this against a “real” team. A lot of people were saying that they were only doing well because they were up against the Astros and the Gnats.
