Minnesota Twins (38-31) at Philadelphia Phillies (35-30)

Kevin Slowey, RHP (7-4, 3.84 ERA) vs. Cole Hamels, LHP (6-5, 3.74 ERA)

Three in a row, Phils. Keep it going!
In last night’s victory, there was quite a power display from Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. There’s nothing like a little boost in the ‘ole slugging percentage, and hopefully the middle of the order can continue to show off their power against Kevin Slowey. Slowey, like Nick Blackburn, is not exactly overpowering, therefore there could be more crooked numbers today.
Cole Hamels will try for his seventh win of the season. His win-loss record does not reflect the way he has pitched because of the lack of run support at times. Hamels has shown signs of returning to his 2008 form, however he still tends to get plagued by the long ball. Hamels has already allowed 14 home runs this year, and the Twins have plenty of hitters who are capable of going yard.
Luckily, Joe Mauer (.271 in June) and Justin Morneau (.204 in June) are not as hot with the bat as they can be. Despite still having great offensive numbers, they are both in a little bit of a funk, compared to some of the numbers they have put up throughout their careers.
UPDATE, 4:00 p.m.: If you’re interested as to why Scott Mathieson was put on waivers today instead of being optioned directly to the minors, here’s an explanation.

Your Gameday Beer- Konigshoeven Blond Trappist Ale
Tonight’s beer comes from the De Koningshoeven Brewery, a Dutch Trappist brewery. It is the only producer of Trappist beer outside of Belgium. Run inside an abbey, the monks get the water for the beer from five 200-metre deep wells on the grounds. La Trappe Blond is one of their many offerings. This Pale Ale is bitter and sweet like fruit candy, but less sweet by comparison to the more popular Leffe Blonde. – By Brian

I nearly hit the nail on the head yesterday with my prediction. Today: I’ll go 6-3 Phils win.

Of course the Met’s lose today so naturally day Hamels rears his ugly head and screws his team before they have a chance to do anything.

Is it just me, or does the video look weird? I feel like I’m watching a 30-year-old rebroadcast.

It sucks not being able to watch or DVR this game today, but I guess I have to work some time. Looks like Cole had a tough inning there, it is time for the offense to pick him up, for all the games that he pitched great and got no runs. It is time for the offense to go on an extended hot streak. Lets get at least on back right now in the bottom of the first. Time to Cole a win in a 11-4 or 10-6 ball game for a change

this pitcher is very hittable..not a strike out pitcher..so this could be a high scoring game

Georgie…Chooch will probably be out for a week or so, they brought up a back up catcher.

Nice at Bat Chase, he may be back, that is how this team should be playing, Cole has a rough inning and you pick him up right away, not it is the big boys turn, just a nice fly ball Ryan if you goes out that is even better

Thanks Tracey and Ed. I wonder if he’s concussed? If so, how can they say when he’ll be back? Still worried, I love Chooch.

M.Milken is cretin and sleazebag of highest order!
the fact he play philantrophist and humanitarian card when he fleeced millions in Drexel Burnham is a bit a joke.
but heh, It’s America!

So let’s hit as many HRs as possible, and take Milken for all he’s worth!

This team is too good to continue slumping…too many money player. when J roll comes back , it’s only gonna get better.
though we could use another pitcher , any pedestrian 4th start would do… Pizza has little faith in Blanton or durability of Kendrik.
