CardinalsArizona Diamondbacks Philadelphia Phillies (52-46)

Rodrigo Lopez, RHP (5-9, 4.58 ERA) vs. Cole Hamels, LHP (3-6, 6.03 ERA)

Time: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Partly Cloudy, 84
TV: CSN
Twitter: @PhilliesNation

Jimmy Rollins will miss tonight’s game, and possibly a few more, as he deals with some swelling after fouling a ball off his back foot. Charlie Manuel indicated that Rollins is day-to-day, but they may give him more time to heal since he’s in pain. We’ll keep an eye on this.

As for the starters, Cole Hamels will look to continue his brilliant pitching tonight against Arizona. He’ll look to give the Phils their 6th consecutive victory, and at a perfect time, too, as they creep up on the division leading Braves. Hamels has given up one earned run in his last three starts (22 2/3 innings). Against Arizona, Hamels is 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA in four starts, but allowed six runs in six innings of a 7-4 loss at Arizona on April 2

Rodrigo Lopez is the hurler for the D-Backs, someone you all should be familiar with. Not only did he pitch for the Phils last season, but he was blasted by them back in April for six runs in six innings. The Snakes won that game 8-6.

Charlie Manuel on the playoff run: “I haven’t even mentioned the Wild Card, that’s not in my thinking at all right now.” Go for that division!

LINEUP: Victorino CF, Polanco 2B, Ibanez LF, Howard 1B, Werth RF, Dobbs 3B, Ruiz C, Valdez SS, Hamels P.

Your Gameday Beer: Dock Street Summer Session

Had it last night and was pleasantly surprised. It was one of the smoothest beers i’ve had in quite a while and finished beautifully with hints of lemon and ginger. It’s pale and looks like a Blue Moon, but tastes waaaay better. You can check it out at Dock Street Brewery, located at 50th and Baltimore in West Philadelphia. I wouldn’t wander through that area too often, since it’s the ghetto, but I would trek through it for a beer this good. Get on it. -By Pat

I’m back just to say a few things:

Our 3-4-5 hitters have been great tonight!

    Baez went 1-2-3. Wow.

If Shane hits the DL because of that injury, you GOT to call up Dom Brown. (And completely forget about trading Werth!) Trying to see the positives here, guys/

Hip or groin. Was running after a fly ball and hurt himself. Not even running full speed.

    Can Brown play CF?
    Werth is now the CF
I am not too comfortable with that

Andrew: I might be wrong on this one, but wasn’t Werth a CF when we started playing with us? I’d be totally OK with him playing center.

Hopefully the injury is just day-to-day and nothing too bad…

Let’s just win this one. Get 3.5 behind the Braves (WHAT!!) and see how things unfold.

Here’s a thought, trade-wise, How about Happ, Gose, Cosart, JC Ramirez and Rizzotti to the Marlins for Nolasco and Leo Nunez?

I think the phils take the division, but as a mathematician I want all bases covered. I don’t see the mets as a factor so if the can help eliminate the cards then so be it.

anyone notice IBBY is Really getting Hot… beginning to hit like early 2009 ???

It is hard to over emphasis how very big it is to have him get hot here in the 2nd of the season

BTW, we need to keep this Ransom dude on the squad. He’s the right handed bat off the bench we’ve needed.

GWFan: That package probably would get Nolasco, but at this point, out upper minors cabinet is bare and that would wipe out what scouts are calling the strongest lower minors system in the league.

@wxdavid: Totally. Todd Zolecki posted a ridiculous slash line that Ibanez has had in the last 14 games. I’ll search Twitter for it.

in 08 he started 26 games in CF none in 07 and 6 times in 09

To me CF is like C 2b and SS
Defense up the middle is so important.
I want a CF who is elite like Shane. I dont thnk Werth is elite in center. But lets hope we dont have to find out.

Could be fine with Werth in center a few weeks. and like you say maybe we will see Brown. I wouldnt mind that at all.

Riccaboni-We can always get more prospects, odds are none of them will amount to a hill of beans anyhow…I think despite their struggles, this team still has an outside shot to make a run at another World Series title….this trade would shore up our rotation and fix our bullpen for not only this season, but the next few seasons.

i have a strong feeling that the braves will come back down to earth…..we are still the team to beat!!!!!!

Just as a bit of a reality check. Caught Colorado at a perfect time. End of a road trip. And this D Backs team is the worst in the NL by alot.
But you have to take advantage. Braves are feeling the heat too.

    Brooks,
Don’t be. Cody can’t hit a curve. DBacks pen is horriffic, but great hit by Cody on a mistake.

Oswalt watching thinking “why the F wouldn’t I play for the Phillies”. Leave 2012 as an option and you can be part of the party.

    It’s happening Mike!

Andrew, Werth is an athlete – I think his arm is just about as good as Vic – we would not lose much at all in CF. Nothing to worry about.

Why does Wheeler say every game that in this park its a 4 run lead is a save situation. Every single game with a 4 run lead he does the speil. About how its not official but it is one etc etc

    Now those take forever. WOW
When it rains it pours. Thats only very slightly better than a hamstring.

Meh, Vic’s been playing like crap most of the season anyhow

Howard is getting good over there that at first. Just needs to learn how to throw to second. Thats the last issue defensively.

Remember that time a long time ago that this team was 7 games out of the NL East and 4.5 games behind the WC leader and needing to jump 5 teams?

Man July 21, 2010 was a long time ago.
