The Band is back, as @Jwerthsbeard put it on twitter. The full lineup that started the year, that was supposed to stay healthy and tear the NL a new one, is finally in order. Only eight times this season has this lineup card seen the light of day.
I know many of you are still pissed off about last night, and rightfully so. Things could have gone differently. However, the Phillies need to put that in their rear view and win these next three games. Anything less than 3-out-of-4 here would be a loss. Will the tides change?
They need to hope they do change, because Cole Hamels is on the mound tonight. We all know what that means – the offense doesn’t score for him. In fact, it’s been three whole games since they’ve given Cole a run in a start. My prediction: they unload on Bud Norris tonight for at least 9 runs. Anything less would be uncivilized!
Today’s lineup: Rollins SS, Polanco 3B, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Werth RF, Ibanez LF, Victorino CF, Ruiz C, Hamels P .
Your gamenight beer: Shiner Bock
The Phils need to give the Stros a shiner tonight after last night’s wicked defeat. Shiner Bock is a Texas-brewed beverage made by the Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas. It wasn’t until a few decades ago that Shiner began producing Bock year-round. Bock was considered a lent beer, and therefore was only made around that season. Taste it tonight. It’s OK. -By Pat

WE NEED THIS WIN !! We were lucky that the Braves lost last night and we were unlucky that we lost. We did not lose ground in the Division, but lost it in the Wildcard. Hopefull Cole returns as the stud he has been most of the second half of this year. WE NEED THIS WIN.

So Werth wasn’t benched.
Hmmmmm…
Not sure how I feel about that…
I sort of think that Charlie should have made a statement and sat him down…last night’s mistake out at second was INEXCUSABLE…
And I’m a HUGE Werth fan.

The ODL may be on the field but these guys aren’t 100%. Chase and Ryan look putrid. Terrible timing. Jimmy pre-injury looked like an MVP, post-injury he looks like Wilson Valdez.

Jimmy Rollins has ZERO business batting first. Unfortunately, his ego and attitude would doom this team if he was batting 7th, where he belongs.

Put the substitutes back in the damn game — Sweeney, Francisco, Valdez, etc. They have an excuse for stinking.

I had a feeling lee was gonna go deep after the pence single…well since the phils don’t know how to score when hamels pitches, this game is already over…

Howard did hit a nice one, but he is really pressing and striking out. His average is dipping, as well. We need his bat to be productive.

Lefty,
I notice that .333 OBP. That’s pitiful. I’m glad he’s having a good week. He’s got his average up to .250.

this lineup of hitters IS very strange. if you put all of the very talented players together at once, they don’t really seem to produce. to be honest, I wasn’t really as excited when howard and utley were coming back. it felt like it would be an overload. for some reason, with all that star power you don’t really get production, at least recently with this team. theoretically it should be good at the least explosive at average and legendary at best. perhaps it has something to do with top players feeling their cruciality in a lineup less star packed, role players being inspired to step it up, and the weirdness of switching guys from the 6 or 7 hole one day and the 2 and 3 spot the next day. or perhaps it has to do with none of that. yankees seem to go through the same thing… but in the end of the day they perform, as will the phils. let’s just give these guys some room to breath. regardless I can see them going all the way.

biz — I should be more patient. You are right. It is just that I have a very acute feeling of importance for the Phils now. I should take my prozac and chill.
