Washington Nationals (53-70) at Philadelphia Phillies (69-53)
Scott Olsen (3-5, 5.13 RA) vs. Roy Oswalt (8-13, 3.36 ERA)

Kyle Kendrick was rocked and Stephen Strasburg struck out six in the Nationals’ 8-1 victory last night. The series is split at a game apiece, but this is a series that the Phillies need to win. Taking advantage of a last place team certainly helps in the standings. The Phillies have a good chance with Roy Oswalt on the mound.
Oswalt would like another chance against Washington. His first start as a Phillie was at Nationals Park, and he did not make the Phillies debut that he would have liked.
When he was a Marlin, Scott Olsen said that he “hates the Phillies.” He must dispise facing them, since he has a 5.56 earned run average against them. Olsen has missed some time due to injuries this year, but he has really struggled in the month of August, posting an ERA near 11 in three starts.
The Nationals have not won back-to-back games at Citizens Bank Park since 2005. The Phillies would like to keep it that way, and boost their playoff chances.
Today’s lineup:Rollins (SS), Ibanez (LF), Polanco (3B), Howard (1B), Werth (RF), Victorino (CF), Ruiz (C), Valdez (2B), Oswalt (P). Just a scheduled off day for Utley.
Your gamenight beer: Today’s offering is from Harpoon, and it’s Harpoon Munich Type Dark Beer. It’s your typical brown ale: Hoppy, malty, roasted. Toffee-like. Coffee-like. A nice beer to have, and definitely fitting with some ribs. – By Tim
GO PHILLIES!

Everytime the Nats play us, they play like its the world series, or at best a must win playoff game. Its incredible.

It’s always a good sign when JRoll gets a lead-off hit.

I love Scott Olsen… 1 he supposedly hates the Phillies with a passion and 2 the Phillies bats love him on the mound with a passion…

Hopefully the Phils will give Roy O some run support today. Roy O will pitch well enough to win. He is a pit bull. Let’s see some runs. We need this win. The Giants and the Braves cannot both win today, can they? Perhaps the Cubs will celebrate Lou Pinella’s last managed game with a win? I am sure he is not well liked over in Chicago. He is not a players manager, from what I’ve been told.
GO PHILS !!!

The Nats have heart
They can lose 100 games and the mets win 96 and I respect them so much more.
Cubs fans also piss me off. They need to stop attending. The team sucks every year forever and they keep selling out the team has no incentive to win. why bother?

Played flag football this morning , not bad for a 47 year old , still play
softball and b-ball too. I’m in better shape than most guy’s in their 20′s.

Ever notice how JIMMY never really learned to go the other way
with the bat ? That ball he just hit , you would see CHASE go the other way with sometimes. He trys to pull everything , and hits alot of weak ground balls because of it. I know its not easy , i played hardball into my
20′s and i couldn’t do it very well , but i’m not Jimmy Rollins.
NICE HIT POLLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chase is fine. Said he feel good. Today is not the day to rest him. We need his bat. Valdez is terrible and Ibanez cant hit lefties. Sad.

Ya gotta love Polanco — a sore left elbow that will probably require surgery, he knows his job and drives in another run. How do we clone this guy. Wouldn’t it be great if Rollins were more like Polanco ?

it’s funny just looked up the Phils with RISP… Jimmy leads the team with a .347 AVG and Polly ‘only’ has a .265 but it seems like he’s the most consistent.

Why isn’t Francisco in there instead of Ibanez?? Is Cholly smoking pot ?? Olsen is left handed and Ibanez can use a day off.
