2010 Gameday, Posts
Philadelphia Phillies (73-58) at Los Angeles Dodgers (68-64)
Kyle Kendrick, RHP (8-7, 4.64 ERA) vs. Carlos Monasterios, RHP (3-4, 3.54 ERA)
Time: 10:10 p.m at Dodger Stadium
TV: Comcast SportsNet
Weather: Mostly Sunny, 67
Twitter: @philliesnation
Not all is lost after that ugly one-hitter was tossed by Hiroki Kiroda last night. The Phillies are still 3-1 on the road trip and they’ll have an opportunity to beat up on a pitcher that has never faced the team as a starter. That, and they also still hold on to a 1 1/2 game advantage in the Wild Card.
By the way, Monasterios is a former Phillies farm hand; he pitched in three levels of the minor league system over four seasons before leaving after last season. He finished up with Double-A Reading in ’09 before heading west.
Good lucks go to Kyle Kendrick tonight. He’ll likely have no offense backing him, per usual, and he likes to give up about four runs over six innings. That means a win at this juncture will be hard to come by. Here’s hoping the Phils somehow, someway, score five runs. Show us something boys, you’re making us just a little nervous.
Your Gameday Beer – Lagunitas Lucky 13 Mondo Large Red Ale
For whatever reason, I like to think of red ales as fall beers. This offering from Lagunitas comes in a 22-ounce bottle and certainly fits into that autumn category. Its rich amber flavor is thickened by apples and syrup while also containing a strong hops body. It has a traditional dry finish – common in IPAs. Have it with some pork chops and applesauce. – By Brian
GO PHILLIES!

Been about 12 year i guess
great guy
taught me alot about baseball
if you will notice the stuff I say here tends to be accurate.
when I was a kid all I did was read baseball encyclopedia talk to older people abotu the sport etc etc. I really could live with all other sports going away and just baseball left. but i couldnt live with all other sports if baseball wasnt there

I was wondering because you mentioned him. Is he on the air anywhere now?
I liked his shows, very knowlwedgable baseball man. He used to be the official scorer for the Orioles I think.
I guess the muts are imploding again

The Braves look like they’ll win again. Y’all had better hope Kendrick can look like a MLB pitcher for once, or you’re looking at a full 4 games back.

Anyone ever think that maybe next year Kendrick be used a long relief or spot/emergency starter type of guy. I think its a worth a shot in trying him for this role. Of course then we would need a fifth starter though. Then again next year basically we lose half our bullpen.

The Braves are about to win. Will Kyle Kendrick for once resemble a MLB pitcher, or will he help his team fall to 4 games behind the Braves? I know it’s frustrating, Jeff. You need to calm your butt though. Don’t take your anger and frustration out on me. I’m just hear to keep you Phillies fans updated. I mean no harm.

I do agree with some of y’all who were dissing on the Braves attendance. Honestly, it’s not as BAD as some of you were trying to make it out to be, but it doesn’t compare to how Phillies fans pack their house each and every night. Just no excuse to not show up at the park and watch yourself a possible playoff type team. We go to as many Braves games as we can and we really don’t have much money at all. Atlanta is a sorry baseball town compared to Philidelphia,NY, Boston and Chicago. I won’t disagree with that.

Y’all use the word “redneck” to describe Braves fans a lot and I was just wondering if y’all were aware that Charlie Manuel is about as big a hick as you’ll ever talk to. You do realize this, right? Just checking.

Hell of a first inning for the Phils. One hit at least. Huge improvement. Ryan Howard might be slugging less than Juan Pierre this season.
