Milwaukee Brewers (62-72) at Philadelphia Phillies (77-58)
Dave Bush (7-11, 4.71) vs. Roy Halladay (16-10, 2.27)

Weather: Clear, 55

The Phillies – backed by consistently excellent pitching – are rolling. With Cole Hamels tossing another jewel last night, Phillies ace Roy Halladay seeks to continue this trend tonight against the Brewers.
Of course Doc’s 16-10 record does not do him justice. In the pitching Triple Crown race, he’s one strikeout behind the league leader, 0.02 points behind the ERA leader and one win off the top spot. All that could change tonight with another dominant performance. For the Brewers, the nastiness that is Roy Halladay represent uncharted waters – the current Brew Crew has only 15 combined at bats against Doc. That surely favors the Phillies pitcher.
Dave Bush meanwhile will throw for Milwaukee. You may remember him as a character from one of the tales of the legendary Matt Stairs. Last year in Philly, Stairs broke up Bush’s no-hitter in the eighth inning with a long bomb to right.
We may see the recently recalled Greg Dobbs tonight as he is hitting .429 in 14 at bats against Bush with 2 homers, and 5 RBIs. Ryan Howard has similar numbers, so there’s hope he can continue his September breakout on this crisp fall-like evening. He and the rest of the lineup will need to after the bats went silent last night following the shootout in Denver.
Tonight’s “Schedule Watch” takes us to Miami, where Jair Jurrjens (6-4, 4.38) will be pitching for the Braves against the Marlins’ ace Josh Johnson (11-5, 2.28).
Your Gameday Beer – Miller High Life
We’re staying with the Champagne of Beers tonight as we continue to support our U.S. troops throughout the weekend! For every High Life cap or tab you drop off at select retailers or mail in, Miller will donate 10-cents toward High Life Experiences for returning vets. Up to a million dollars will go toward paying soldiers’ way into sports events, concerts, outdoor adventures and more. So buy it and help us out as well as we send Phillies care-packages to phans abroad serving our country.
GO PHILLIES!

If memory serves me the Phils have lost the last 2 starts by Doc. Need to get him a win tonight and score with some crooked numbers.
With Josh Johnson pitching for the filet o fishes tongiht the Phillies may find themselves in first place in about 4 hours.
Not a sermon. Just a thought.

Also I see san diego still hasnt won a game since we came to town.
Are they possibly gonna collapse out of the playoffs too?
Its odd. they hadnt lost 3 in a row in like a year and now this. The Cardinals are pretty unexplanable too.

I think the Phils came out flat offensively last night because of fatigue (3 games, 3 cities, 3 nights). Look for them to bounce back and give Roy #1 a win.
Gotta go about our business and not worry about what the other teams are doing. Keep applying pressure like a vice clamp.

Why not let Dobbs play for Polanco to give him rest, and if he has such good numbers against their pitcher? And Francisco or Dom Brown… those guys should play a bit more?
Or is the double-header on Monday gonna be the ONLY time they play a full game? Gotta keep this team fresh!

Manny I think he wants defense for Roy who pitches strikes so there are alot of balls in play.
Dobbs is pretty poor defensively. But its refreshing to have someone calling for Greggy! He is back.

Give ‘em hell, Doc!
Cole dealt last night and got the win. I’m willing to give the offense a break for last night considering the fact they all probably got a mere NAP between landing at PHL and then reporting to CBP for game one against the Brewers. Hopefully they all got some great sleeping time last night and the bats will give Doc a good cushion and give Lidge another day off.

The Braves should be comfortable in florida playing in front of 800 fans in the stands. Will remind them of thier home games.
Marlins having a concert after the game. Fat Joe and Pittbull. LOL whoever that is. Still no fans in the stands. I suppose the ones coming for the concert will get there late. Ironic that fat joe threw out the first pitch and it isnt Blanton.

Direct TV not showing the Phillies feed. So I wont be able to whine about Wheeler. the Brewers announcers are pretty good. I like most of the laid back mid western announcers.

Last nights bats were for obvious reasons
I am concerned that continues today and tomorrow.
there is a double header on monday so almost everyone will need some time off at some point.

I hope our bats are worthy of victory tonight. The starting pitching needs some support and lately, we have been at best inconsistent. Prince Fielder will hit homers against anyone. So will Ryan Howard.

Not good
I called this a trap series for a reason. Last night cole untrapped us all by himself. Tongiht could get tough.
HAVE to get the bats rolling vs a very mediocre Dave Bush.

Doc throws strikes
sometimes players are going to swing and hit it in the sweet spot.
Even a guy with 4 homers.
solo homers BTW no walks before them to kill the team
