2010 Gameday, Posts
Milwaukee Brewers (62-73) at Philadelphia Phillies (78-58)
Randy Wolf (10-10, 4.76) vs. Kyle Kendrick (9-7, 4.72)
Time: 1:35 at Citizens Bank Park

In Saturday’s 5-4 victory, Roy Halladay surrendered four homers, but the Phillies offense rallied, en route to their fifth straight win. The Phillies become a scary team in September, and they’re just a game back in the National League East.
Former Phillie Randy Wolf will take the mound for the Brew Crew, but don’t expect a Wolf Pack reunion. This is Wolf’s second appearance at Citizens Bank Park in an away jersey. Phillies fans know what Wolf brings to the table. Sometimes he can be on his “A” game; other times he can get rocked. That sounds very familiar to Wolf’s counterpart, Kyle Kendrick.
The offense is starting to pick it up, especially Chase Utley, Jayson Werth and Ryan Howard. Howard is always a scary hitter late in the season, thus taking the name Mr. September. Howard does not have good career numbers against Wolf, but the Phillies need Howard to continue to have his September push.

Should not have left Math in, but I think Cain would have beat the throw anyway.

I called my brother and he said howard just dropped the ball , but besides that he said howard didn’t stretch towards utley like he’s supposed to and the runner may been safe anyway.

tough series
a botched fly ball for the 1 run in the first game to win
score 2 on a sac last night but win
It figured.
But the guys are home now. off on thursday
I think things are about to get better. Winning 2 of 3 vs the brewers was huge and impressive

Oh well can’t win them all. Hey Mike- Raul needed to be sat down, I stick by that. – KK Awful -maybe shouldn’t have ptiched to Fielder but when you look at the replay, Chooch was set up way outside, and KK came in with it. Maybe should have batted for BenFran with the shadows in the eight might have been easier for LHH in that situation, but that’s baseball, sometimes your decisions go right for you, sometimes they don’t.

I’d sure like to get this guy next year, Lorenzo Cain is a great fielder. If you haven’t seen this play from last week, look how far he runs to get this ball. You can only see it the first time. But then you see him slam into the wall. He plays with heart.

yea lefty agree , 8 out of 10 , cant complain too much.
We get fish and braves get pirates —— should be interesting.
As far as kk goes , with the thursday’s off they can skip his turn if they want. If one of the kids pitch good tomorrow i would insert them in kk’s spot. His era is over 7 in his last 5 starts.

Milwaukee needs pitching they are fine otherwise
having an off year this year though.
I want 3 of the 4 vs fish. its doable. Thier pitching is a bit off like ours.
Game 1 they got a guy with 0-0 record tomorrow too.
worley is crucial hope he is good

I’m sure Charlie left Mathieson in to avoid having use one of the late inning guys in a decided game.scott
Wasn’t a terrible game for the Phils. Not a good start from Kendrick by any means and there was points in the game the offense should have come through but there are positives… The pen got 3 good innings from the future of the bullpen.

Kendrick’s done for the year that’s sure, the kids running on fumes but the Phils have 4 starters they can win with most starts out so no biggie… Better to cruise into October than flat out sprint and have nothing left in the tank.
On a random note how about Brad Lidge? ERA under 3.5, WHIP just over 1.2 and 20 saves… I think it’s clear the only issue going into next year is will he be healthy

I expected that from Kendrick. I’m still not sure the offense is clicking like it should. They were fortunate to win the first two of the series, thanks to Brewers’ fielding mistakes. I’m kinda worried facing a hot Marlins team tomorrow.
