It’s been an un-effing-believable west coast trip thus far, and the Phillies can cap it off tonight with a win over surging Colorado. A victory would make it a 6-1 road jaunt, a hell of a turnaround considering how they ended the last homestand against Houston.
Joe Blanton hasn’t lost a game in over a month. Think about that for a second. This guy was so bad in May and June that people wanted him banished from Philly for-ev-er. He’s turned it around, and at a very good time. Blanton has been a solid number four, but he’ll need to be so for the rest of the season – no more hiccups.
Scoring all of these runs has been a fun pastime for this team. In the thin air of the Rocky Mountains, against a pitcher they don’t know all that well, perhaps there is more to be had.

I’m feeling pretty confident that Braves will go no better than 3 and 3 over the next 6 games with Marlins and Pittsburgh…the good karma is about to turn for Atlanta.
Phils will gain more ground over the next week.
Also, Giants have to go into LA for a series…Dodgers will play better than against the Phils…Phils should gain at least a game in the Wild Card race over the weekend!
Feeling pretty good about the stretch drive here…goodnite!

Lefty…Can’t let down. We have to worry about EVERY team.. EVERY game. We can’t adopt that “Astros Syndrome”

This is a classic let down series
Game 1 is third city in 3 nights etc etc
Its a tough series. IMO the toughest series left on the schedule.

There is no such thing as Astros syndrome Chuck. They are the hottest team the NL. They’ve swept the Cardinals twice this year.
But fair enough, no letting down, against anyone!

On the MLB telecast tonight Costas and the other guy were saying that they think it’s win the division or go home for the Braves and Phils.
Specifically mentioned that if we have to go to an extra one game playoff, one team would have an extra loss (due to 163 games) and that could make the WC go to SF, COL or SD.
I have no idea if they are right, but it was interesting.

the astros series was very bad. No excuses.
Its over now and they made up for it.
If they win just 2 of those games are leading division and my best record in the NL predicition is looking better.

Desibrave: I live in Tampa, Florida. I travel to my home state of Pennsylvania at the age of 20 years old, working part-time as a Supervisor at a Grocery store and going to the University of South Florida at least 4 times a year. During those 4 times, usually around a week a piece, I managed to attend 8 baseball games at Citizen’s Bank Park, the most recent being our series against the Diamondbacks. While in Pennsylvania, I stay with my father, who lives in Bucks County, about 35-45 miles from Philadelphia. During that Diamondbacks Series, I daily drove to each game and back — using my own money. For you to say your fans don’t go to games because it’s 40-50 miles from Atlanta is pathetic, and a complete joke of an excuse. I know I don’t stand for everyone, but at 20 years old, making around 35,000 dollars a year, paying my way through college, and living on my own, I’d say that if I can go to 8 games a year — In Philadelphia! I’ve also been to 2 games this year in Miami vs Philadelphia, which is about a 3 and a half hour drive from Tampa, and during that series, I paid for 1 night in the Fontainbleau Resort on Collins Avenue for my girlfriend and myself. It’s absolutely pathetic that you made the excuse that your “fans” won’t drive 40 miles.

Greg..Where in Bucks Co. 35 miles away? I’m in Bucks also about that far from CBP. Going tonight. Will be my 9th game this year (includes one in DC). I-95 traffic is NOT an excuse.

Hey Bravo and Desibrave, here’s a stat for you. Since 2007, the Phillies have made the postseason EVERY YEAR. 07 Playoffs, 08 World Series Champs, 09 NL Champs. What have your tomahawking rejects done? If it wasn’t for the respect that I have for Bobby Cox I would write you both off completely. And by the way, what we Philadelphia fans have is called passion. When we have a team-wide power outage, we boo. We let the players know that we’re not satisfied. And when they win, we’re there to raise them up. It’s called giving a crap about the game, and not having some lobotomized smile on our faces like the Braves fans who even show up to the game. As for poor location and distance, I don’t even want to hear it. “Ya’ll” complain because you have to ride your John Deere tractor for 30 miles to the ballpark. Boo freaking hoo. I’m about 50 miles from the park and I manage to go to games multiple times a month. And please, traffic in Atlanta? Try to navigate I-95 and then get back to me. Oh, and by the way. The Braves suck, the Thrashers suck, the Hawks suck, and the Falcons suck. So you can take your stupid demeaning Tomahawking, fairweather, absentee selves, and shove it!
