Listen to today’s “Daily Debate” between Pat Gallen and Mike Gill of 973 ESPN FM in South Jersey. Today’s topic is a fantasy topic of sorts. There is really no right or wrong answer.
If you had your choice of one player, who would you start a franchise with? After Albert Pujols went down (and has had a bit of a down season) we looked at the other players that could be franchise cornerstones.
See who we picked by listening below and let us know in the comments section who you would start your Major League franchise with.

TULO was the first name that jumped into my head . . .
Braun would be there if it wasn’t for poor defense… Evan Longoria could be in the discussion but Tulo at SS is at a premium position
depending on if he keeps his game going this year (and proves that 2010) was a bump in the road … Matt Kemp could be real high on this list

Tulowitzki/Longoria/Votto/Felix, in that order. Miguel Cabrera could also make sense.

My first thought was Votto. Just a solid player all around and consistent.

I would start my franchise by building first with the best defense up the middle. Paired with batting stats, IMO that’s Tulo,

Chase Utley. He may not be having a great year. But he makes other players better through his intensity and will to win. Still has power and speed also
