Doesn’t look like they’ll get this one in. With the early rain bands of Hurricane Irene already hitting the Philadelphia area, I’m not sure baseball is in the cards for today unfortunately. A Friday doubleheader would have been best, but it appears as though the Marlins nixed that because they were already playing two DH’s in five days.
Whatever the case may be, if you were looking forward to sitting back, relaxing, and waiting on impending doom, looks like you’ll have to wait until another life.
Unfortunately, this will allow everyone to stew a little bit longer after Friday’s ugly defeat. Clay Hensley, for God’s sake!
NL STANDINGS:
Lineup: Victorino CF, Polanco 3B, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Pence RF, Mayberry, Jr LF, Ruiz C, Valdez SS, Halladay P
Your Gameday Beer – Margaritas
With a tropical storm ready to hit, have a tropical drink. Love a good margarita (extra salt, please!) on the rocks to chill out with on any day, even a rainy one. Homemade burritos are on the menu for today’s game (if they get it in) so I’m looking forward to whatever Irene brings us. We’re well stocked with all the essentials – Margarita mix, beer, scotch, steak, eggs, milk. Enjoy the ride, and the game if they get it in!

The bad weather and the postponements may be a blessing in disguise. The Phils could use a nice respite before the final stretch in September. It will allow the players to rest their muscles and clear their heads before heading to Cincy.
Perhaps we can play a triple header in September? And Wilson Valdez can start a game.

I can’t believe they haven’t just called this thing. But then, why cancel the game when they can sell overpriced food and drinks for an hour or two?

Parking, Food, Drinks, Ponchos, etc …. they’re no dummies that’s money that we can use to pay all of our “over priced, sucky players” ! Couple days off is good though, get Polly, Utley, Jimmy, Cole a few days off without missing more games

They knew it would only get worse, and had they really wanted to get the game in today, they shoul have scheduled it for 10AM. They didn’t really every have a chance on this one, but they didn’t want to try and lose games to Irene
