Philadelphia Phillies (2-2) at St. Louis Cardinals (2-2)

Roy Halladay (1-1, 3.38) vs. Chris Carpenter (0-0, 12.00)

Time: 8:37 p.m., Citizens Bank Park
TV: TBS
Weather: Clear, 58
Media: Twitter and Facebook

I don’t think there is really much else to say. You know what’s at stake. You know the players. You know what they have to do.

So I’ll leave you with this. Maybe it’s cliche, but I don’t give a rats ass. The Phillies need a win and they need one now.

Lineup: Rollins SS, Utley 2B, Pence RF, Howard 1B, Victorino CF, Ibanez LF, Polanco 3B, Ruiz C, Halladay P

Your gameday beer: Johnnie Walker Green Label

For games like this, beer is hardly enough. Reach into the cabinet and find the good stuff. Or go to your local liquor store and pick up some Johnnie Walker Green Label. It’ll run you about $55, but I look at it this way. If they win, you’ll be celebrating and on a high with some of the best stuff you can drink. If they lose, you’ll still be drinking really good stuff. Sip it, try to relax, and try to enjoy all that Game 5 has to offer.  -By Pat

Hmm. So Good Ole Cholly wants to stay with Pence 3 and Howard 4, even with the stats leading everyone to believe that Howard and Pence BOTH hit better when Howard hits 4 and Pence hits 5th. Heres to hoping what appears to be the mental part of the game taking a back seat to will power, skill and desire. I hope the offence can score more than 3 runs. HHistorically when Carpenter is NOT on 3 days rest, Carpenter has dones very well against the Phillies with a 5-0 record (8IP 0ER in his lone Regular Season start this year at CBP.

    Go Phil’s

Utley is a very good 2 hitter now. And a not so good 3 hitter.

Shane needs to do his thing 5th.

I expect alot from Shane and and Carlos those are my guys.

If I was coaching id have MM at 3rd base and hitting 8th and Carlos hitting 7th.

But we all know how the old man handles things.

Please win. And I do not care who the hero is.

Well, I agree Utley is hitting will in the 2 spot, maybe shane needs to be 5th, however my concern is, is having Shane 5th worth it just to have him hit, if Howard AND Pence hit better reversed? Just a thought. I agree with most of it except MM at 3rd. I would put Valdez at third. I think Valdez is a far better option than Mini Mart IMO.

Thanks, needed that. I’m pumped and can’t wait to see the boys take care of business tonight. As Adrian said in Rocky II, Win!

Win and send that drunk Tony L off the wagon.

They are actually pitching around Pence to get to Howard in late innings.
Then they bring in a leftie for Howard.
Utley 2 pence 3 and Victorino 5 is the best line up.

    Off to watch the game.
    GO PHILS

You are too good to have it end now.

Ask NOT what your Phils can do for you, but what YOU can do for your Phils. Cheer loud and cheer often. And have fun.

Dont feel good about this one fellas. Our offense stinks and cholly didn’t juggle the lineup.

“Great d”? Um, I am big Polly fan, but “Great d”? Not so sure about that. He does play good d, but I don’t know if I would go as far as great.

Normally, yes, Polly’s great, but I don’t think he’s in top shape right now. Glad to see jeff hasn’t evolved at all.

IMHO, Polly is hurt and lost his swing. MM or Mr. big arm / double play would be better but might shake up the boys. How about a quick hook for Placido?
      Agreed Re: Pence after Howard.
First Pitch in two min. Already palpitating.

Crap, and the freakin Brewers won. Come on, need to settle down, Bats need to rescue Halladay. More than 30 pitches in the 1st inning? At this rate, he will be lucky to go 6 innings.

Lee will be in this game. Start hamels if we win. I was always afraid of the cards. Great offense. Maybe it’s good we are behind. Leading has not worked. Roy will settle.

Our Father who art in Philly, Doc Halladay be thy name. The Cards will be done, the NLDS will be won, on the field as well as in the stands. Give us this Friday our baseball game, and allow us to score, while Chooch prevents those from scoring against us. Lead us not into elimination, but deliver us a victory. In the name of the Phanatic, Cholly, and the Philadelphia Phans. Amen!

LMAO! That is great! I needed a good laugh. Good to see Halladay settle down, not to replay Game 1, and score some good runs! Phillies have always had problem scoring runs on Carpenter on full rest.

WTF are you swinging at Howard? Are you freakin kidding me? Swinging at first pitch is one thing, but that pitch? At least he hit the ball, though I dont want to see him hit a ball like that. I would rather at least he hit it a little harder to the outfield, even if it would be an out.

U guys all kill me. I realize Howard is a compiler but not good in the clutch. Looks lost. I hope he makes me wrong

Howard is usually lost when we need him most.

I hope im wrong guys but the feeling here at the bar is the Phils arent going to pull this one away. It was nice ride the offense is just too weak too many wasted chances Lee f’ed up.

Be careful saying that too early. I was an idiot and smokin something for thinking it was doubtful. I hope we are wrong. This offense completely fell asleep, even though people keep trying to say the Phillies are the only team to score at leat 3 runs in every game. Hard to really rely on that fact if the 3 runs in Game 3 was honestly, lucky and a fluke by Ben Fran. But I would rather be lucky than good right now. The Phillies have been scoreless in 25 of their last 28 innings. Hardly something to give even the most phaithful phan reason for help. Especially with Polly, Ruiz and Howard slumping, even Pence not hitting like himself. I still believe Cholly should have gone back to what was working consistantly…Howard 4 Pence 5.

Settled down nicely, the problem is he has 52 (ish) pitches through 3.

Exactly. Good pitching alone doesn’t win games. I hope I’m wrong though. I’m praying they pull through.

I sure hope this is not a 1-0 loss. Maybe Ben Fran can come up and bail out the starters again? Or John Mayberry Jr. Someone needs to wake the F up!

    This game will end 1-0

I wish I could disagree. Looks like it will end 1-0. I sure hope to be eating crow after the game, but it is not looking good. Carpenter on full rest 5-0 against the Phillies. Last time he pitched on full rest at CBP he went 8IP, 0ER. I hope we can get 1 run off of Carpenter, and hope he does not go for a complete game.

Well at least Howard actually hit the ball. I find it disgustingly classless that Carpenter was laughing at Howard.

Frucals play then carpenter getting his glove on a ball up the middle. It’s over. 1 run. Our offense again shows why we won’t win it all again. See u next year.

It seems we don’t have the fire the Cards have in this series…….I’m upset, but surprised by the tempo of this game.
