2011 Gameday, Analysis, News, Opinion, Posts, Video

Philadelphia Phillies (2-2) at St. Louis Cardinals (2-2)

Roy Halladay (1-1, 3.38) vs. Chris Carpenter (0-0, 12.00)

Time: 8:37 p.m., Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Clear, 58
Media: Twitter and Facebook

I don’t think there is really much else to say. You know what’s at stake. You know the players. You know what they have to do.

So I’ll leave you with this. Maybe it’s cliche, but I don’t give a rats ass. The Phillies need a win and they need one now.

Lineup: Rollins SS, Utley 2B, Pence RF, Howard 1B, Victorino CF, Ibanez LF, Polanco 3B, Ruiz C, Halladay P

Victory Lager

Your gameday beer: Johnnie Walker Green Label

For games like this, beer is hardly enough. Reach into the cabinet and find the good stuff. Or go to your local liquor store and pick up some Johnnie Walker Green Label. It’ll run you about $55, but I look at it this way. If they win, you’ll be celebrating and on a high with some of the best stuff you can drink. If they lose, you’ll still be drinking really good stuff. Sip it, try to relax, and try to enjoy all that Game 5 has to offer.  -By Pat

It’s easy to say “Get rid of so-and-so,” but who do they sign?… Rebuilding takes more than one offseason.

Pence????? Missed the cutoff that led to a run. “He does everything awkard but, gets it done” Chris Wheeler…… he lost the game

Not really you bring in young guys.
Glavis at SS brown in left. And they are already here.

Some team may give yuo something for Utley.
Love the guy he plays the game right. but his body is like Barbaros now.

Your pitching gets you to the playoffs. It did this year.
But you need to hit in the playoffs. This is 2 years in a row.

Ryan Howard simply isnt that good. So I am done bashing him. He is what he is.
The Phillies decided to pay him and bat him 4th regardless.

I blame the Phils for that.

Remember my progression formula. Which errily parrells Howards decline.

    08 win world series
    09 lose world series
    10 lose NLCS
    11 lose NLDS

The next step is 12 not making the playoffs.
Dont want to be right but I tend to be right.

Shout out to Dipsy. You are my favorite guy on this site.
    Enjoyed the year.

And hear I thought that Don M and the Chucks were your favorites…

In all seriousness, they’re saying that an MRI is scheduled for Howard and that it it’s a full blown Achilles that 2012 is lost. Worst of all injuries.

If’s and But’s!! We’re not that good! Trade Utley ( now on the decline) and hope to sign someone. Our minor league sucks

Seriously? “We’re not that good”? Really, get a clue man. There is no way you can 102 games and say they are not that good. The problem. A. a Slump. B. Cholly changed the lineup completely with Pence in front of Howard even knowing full well that they both hit better reversed. Why change what was working? Cholly has moments of brilliance and moments of pure stupidity. Cholly in the NLDS was the Cholly of pure stupidity.

Or you could follow this formula:

      95 Win World Series
      96 Lose World Series
      97 Lose NLCS
      98 Lose NLCS
      99 Lose World Series
      00 Lose NLDS
      01 Lose NLCS
      02 Lose NLDS
      03 Lose NLDS
      04 Lose NLDS
      05 Lose NLDS
      06 Miss playoffs

Actualy enjoy and like you Chuck. Not so much for Don LOL but hes ok too.

    Thats very ironic.

    Almost surreal.

Broke my heart a bit to see him on the ground. But he swung at a 3-0 pitch in the 7th to lead off an inning down by a run.
You need to hit like .700 if you swing 3-0. You take or you crush. The end.

I like howard alot personaly. If this is a 2012 season ender then thats it.
Too ironic even. Dont want to think about it. Doing a shot of Jack.
And Chuck im not a bad guy. Ask Lefty. Just like to stir it up sometimes.

Just think…the Phillies are 9 division titles and 3 NL pennants away from EQUALIZING what the Braves accomplished in the 1990s. Even with a $180 Million payroll. Welcome to the offseason, chokers! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

Do you know why the Braves were able to win that many? They were aided by the 1994 strike when they ended in 3rd (THIRD place). BTW, you can’t compare salaraies MORON. 10-20 years apart and you think the Salaries will be similar? LOL. FYI, the Braves Salary was among the highest in the 1990s

Actually, we were in second place when the strike halted the 1994 season.

Braves CHOKE against the Phillies. 104 wins, and they choke against the Phillies who only had 97 wins. The Braves who had one of the best pitching staff’s in the league. Sounds like a team from this season. Maybe Braves fans should think, and look at history before spurting out ignorrance. But what should we expect from Braves fans. But speaking of massive Choke jobs. How did the Braves do in the playoffs? Oh wait,. with a 8.5 game lead on Sep 3rd 2011, they CHOKED and NEVER MADE THE PLAYOFFS. LOL.

Too bad te Braves choked so bad that they couldnt beat the Phillies in the last game of season even though Cholly tried to lose by putting Scwimmer and Mini Mart in. LOL. The Braves choke is far worse than the Phillies choke.

The irony of it is the Phillies kept the Braves out of the Wild Card Spot by beating them that last game of the regular season. Maybe if St Louis doesnt get in and the Braves do, the Phillies are still alive. What a miserable ending to a good season. Its all lost though. Winning a Division with this staff was not enough. They were heavy WS favorites. Its going to be a long winter.
